Free camping in Gila National Forest. Lots of space for big rigs. Plenty of people with large RVs, generators, ATVs and dogs, but still our own private space. We felt safe and comfortable coming here in January. Take road 35 up through Mimbres, not 15 which is narrow and winding. Not many gas options, so fill up before coming, or get gas in San Lorenzo at La Tienda Del Sol. Great place to leave the trailer to head up to Gila Cliff Dwellings with the tow vehicle. Ground is pretty hard and flat among big pine trees. Dogs had fun off leash. Entrance is earlier than Google Maps tells you, on the left at the curve with the brown square sign post for fire warnings.

Nice dispersed camping area in the forest. Large sites spread apart. Road is good condition. Near OHV trails which we walked and biked.
