Description

An absolute GEM! Wish we had found this place our first time in Mendoza. Laura and her family are Italian and have a passion for hospitality - we immediately felt welcomed and understood (they have travelled through the US in a car and know how important things like secure parking, wifi and comfort are for overland travelers). They have invested extensively in the restoration of a winery which was established in 1896 and have turned it into a beautiful hostel/hotel/restaurant. Restaurant prices are 85AP for a sandwich, 135AP for pasta, 180AP for ribeye. Dorm beds are 280 AP per person, private matrimonial room in a converted wine vat 750 AP (small but VERY special). Shared bathrooms. Extensive, delicious breakfast with omelettes and homemade bread included. Many common areas which are nicely appointed, both indoors and outdoors. Laundry service available. Swimming pool in the summer months. Fenced in parking lot with several security cameras; no height restrictions through gate that is on a side street (there are two gates)... I can't stress enough how nice these people are: we were initially worried about the price and Laura, very understanding of our tight budget, called around to see if there were any cheaper places or camping places that were still open at this point in the season. We eventually decided to stay because the value of this place is the best we've found. Their reviews on TripAdvisor are excellent: they've only recently opened and already have a rating of 9.5!

Really a lovely place. Not the cheapest option, but worth it! We ended up staying 3 nights, recommendable as it offers everything you need for a relaxed time after a longer time on the road. Offers secure parking, dorms & double rooms (tiny but special), lovely setting, good restaurant, clean facilities (shower/ toilet), pool, bicycle rental and a very personal and understanding service. Wifi works well and if you pay with Maestro or MasterCard you get the VAT refunded.

After 49 nights in our roof tent (the last one being very wet and cold) we were ready for a real bed and could not have chosen a better place and ended up staying 4 nights. They are more than happy to show you round this exquisite place that took them 4 years of hard work to convert it from the ruin they started with.

We definitely recommend Finca Agostino we went for a wine tour and ended up having lunch. 750pp for a 3 course meal, 950 for 5 course. The chef came out to explain the menu and ended up giving us a taster of the first 3 courses as our first course and with 3 different excellent wines. If you have lunch they don't charge extra for the tour. The location and the grounds are superb. You cannot stay overnight here and they would not even allow us to leave the car here and take a taxi, so if you plan to have lunch take a taxi there. If you go please put on IOverlander when you get there. It's at the bottom of the map that you will be given at the Hostel.

Very beautiful place with very friendly and helpful people. Paid about 700 to stay in a small room, the tax can be reduced nowadays.
