Description

Very beautiful natural area with lots of lagoons, a good restaurant and plenty of flat space for camping. Lots of birds and monkeys. Easy to spot the animals because they have feeders. And there are beautiful nature trails. Very quiet and peaceful during the week, on weekends it gets busier at noon but people leave at about 6pm and the music stops. High clearance is 3 meters at the entrance. Very very friendly owner and staff. They are making a great effort to preserve the natural area. Bathrooms are ok and there is one outside shower; they also have plans of building new bathrooms and showers. Make sure not to go next door because the other complejo turístico is a lot noisier. Camping is 10 soles per person. No internet but Bitel 3G works. Electricity available with a very long extension cord, we had one but they also offered one if necessary. Pet friendly but there are a few dogs. We had no problems with our cats.

Latest Check-Ins

Arrived in a Friday early afternoon. At Villa Maria the music was pumping so we decided to check out Yacumama. No music and only a handful of people. We chose a level camping spot close to the river. Paid S15 pp for the night camping.

We ate lunch here and it really wasn’t good, cannot recommend. We considered camping but the bugs were bad and they wanted us to camp in the parking lot. Bathrooms were really dirty, no shower to be found. We didn’t want to stay in Moyobamba and Chachapoyas was too far so we went next door and got a matrimonial room for 60 soles, cannot recommend that place either (mattress sunken in, funky room). All the people were nice and we did see the little monkeys.

Lovely place didn’t eat in the restaurant but had a beer and did see monkeys and lots of birds. Went for a lovely walk around and some great spots for fishing on the river, especially by the playa - saw fish being caught. Quiet even on a Saturday. About 5-6 hours to get to Yurimaguas from here

Nice nature reserva. We followed the signs to the playa till a parking area at a soccer field. Aside the soccer field there is a toilet and a hut for rain protection. It was totally quiet there. The next day was rainy, so no other guests disturbed the peace. Unfortunately most walking ways turned to swimming pools and the monkeys didn't show up.

We came after season and it was raining whole night and day, so we couldn't enjoy it so much but it looked very nice. We arrived late around 10pm, came inside and some guy opened us the gate. In thé morning we paid 10 soles (2 person). There are toilets with paper and soap, probably shower but we didn't see it, restaurant, a lot of small lagunas, kid's playground and even the handy football (see pictures). The whole place is designed like a tropical paradise :-)

Nueva Cajamarca is small but very long city with lot of gas stations. We took shower at one of them.
