Description
On FR 244 just off the CR 395 (Wupatki and Sunset Crater Loop Road). Nice and quiet. Free, but you have to cross through one of the National Monuments and pay entrance fee there.

Really lovely spot with views of the volcanic hills. We had no trouble in our 24ft skoolie, but low clearance rigs should take care to avoid any deep gravel spots. No cell service.

Road closed, fire camp personnel only as of 6/1/22. This spot nor the other spots on this road can be accessed.
Report Check-InCompletely sand - road isn’t awful but my van had a hard time in a few spots. The actual pullout looked like a sandbox. Reversed out the entire way because there wasn’t anywhere to turn around without driving Into the sand box and getting stuck.
