exit hwy 89 at sunset crater National Monument and take first forest service rd 545B. i didn't travel far up the road so I don't know how many sites are further up, I passed a couple other campers. camped at a large pull off with great view of the range

Report Check-In

I think what people mean by quiet is that you don't hear the main road but this area is non-stop traffic people whizzing by every 5-10 minutes swirling a lot of dust, so not quiet at all. But I guess for one night it's okay.

Report Check-In

As of today there were signs that said no entry due to fire hazard

Just across the road from the entrance to Sunset Crater National Monument. No bathrooms here, but there are at Sunset Crater. Lots of room, quiet.

It's quiet even when you don't drive to far into the forest. Nice place for the night. 2WD no problem even though it rained/snowed. Unfortunately, there was some trash.
