Description

Great dive shop away from the hustle and bustle. Super friendly staff and definitely one of the quietest hostels on the island (they stop serving alcohol at 7pm). We did our advanced cert here because we couldn't pass on the $275 special they were having. "Fun" dives are also very cheap ($35/tank). The accommodations aren't the nicest but it wasn't much of a problem because we were outside or diving most of the time anyway. Has a kitchen (with big fridge) for guests to use, wifi, etc. Lots of sand flies on the island - bring baby oil!!

way more expensive than everywhere else where we asked.

That’s the place ! I spent amazing 6 nights @Altons. The Fun Dives are cool and the accommodations are great. Check it out if you get the chance heading off to Utila. It’s a paradise for me 💚.

We did a week of diving at Alton's and took the AOW course there too and had a really good experience. We paid extra for the upstairs AC room because it's really, really hot this time of year! Rooms are simple but clean and tidy. Dive instructors good and everything is very well organized. While there is a bar in the eves it isn't a big party scene and the main objective here is to dive to your heart's content. There were lots of long term travelers, backpackers and the place has a good vibe. When booking, Steve, the manager, responded very quickly and answered all my questions. There is a kitchen area with fridge, stove and kitchen equipment. Its very basic and the fridge appears to be on its last leg but it worked out that we didn't have to eat every meal out. We recommend this place.

Good place to dive and rest, I would recommend the rooms with A/C since they are more comfortable and better view to the bay. The cost is 59$ with a private bathroom, clean and the staff is really kind.

The shop is ok if your just learning to dive but they dont really cater to experienced divers as its more a training establishment. Diving in Utila is ok with a lot of nice corals but not much marine life for some reason. Plenty of better places to dive in the world than Utila

Nice place with nice staff. Good prices for PADI certifications or just fun diving. Only downside was the kitchen, plenty of tools missing and always dirty. Calm area and nice atmosphere.

best place to dive on the island. they go to the north side of the island almost every day. they limit their classes and fun diving groups to 6 people maximum. if you are fun diving the dives are 1 hour long, nobody else offers this. Accommodation is free while you are diving. the staff are amazing, very professional and relaxed. you'll feel like a member of the family in no time.
