Brazil → Argentina (for Iguazú falls)

Once at the main gates park in the center. Walk in the building in front of you to get passport stamped. 5min wait. If you need paper work with TIP go to the building on the left, they told us we didn’t need since we will be coming back in a few days. Done. If your rig is big take the lane on the far right.

Then, the long wait.

It was the year end and around 5pm. Cars started to line up around the bridge over the river. You can take the right lane (for taxis and buses and large vehicle) which is much faster but there’s a guard at the end and he might tell you to go back and line up. If he’ not around you can go past, but it’s pure luck. We were unlucky, we took the right lane but they told us to go back and line up again. Although there were cars going past him, maybe if you had an Argentina plate he will let you go, I’m not sure. We watched a whole movie and we were still waiting. It took us 4hours to get to the Argentina gates.

Argentina side, take the 2nd out 3rd lane. there were only 1 staff per lane, even though there were like 5 counters on each lane. Pretty easy, you don’t need to get off your car, just get your passport stamped and done. We didn’t even get our van checked.

So, long story short, avoid year end and avoid late evening. bon voyage.

Report Check-In

Argentina to Brazil. Very long line of over 1km long of cars. We passed by and could take the separate line for big vehicles which did not have a line at all. So we crossed in about 15 min in total, for migration and aduana.
Bit weird experience, that apparently one of us was not registered when we entered Argentina coming from Paraguay. It was not in the system. We showed with picture as proof that both of us entered at the same day passing the migration office and they let us pass.

Report Check-In

Argentina to Brazil.
When leaving Argentina, you must insist that they sign the vehicle's departure from Argentina. They said that there was no need and they didn't want to sign an exit for us. After about two months we encountered a problem re-entering Argentina.

Report Check-In

Brazil to Argentina. Leaving Brazil we parked in front of the Aduana sign in between the booths where vehicles were entering and exiting the country. We went to migracion which is on the left, with the entry facing Argentina to get our exit stamps. Then we visited the Aduana which is on the far left as you face towards Argentina, you will see that the trucks entering Brazil are getting their paperwork stamped there. The very helpful officer took us across to the other side of the complex to make copies and cancel our TIP. Entering Argentina we joined the foreigners queue received a 90 day visa at the booth and the Aduana officer who was checking every vehicle entering the country managed the issuing of a 8 month TIP.

Report Check-In

Fairly easy from Brazil to Argentina as previously stated, BUT don’t forget to get your insurance before arriving or you’ll have to do it in the parking lot like we did. We had some help from Mike (slow house) so it only took us a little extra time! We got six months worth and it works for several countries, including Chile.

Report Check-In

Super crazy busy border. We stood 3 hours in the sun in a big huge line. Be prepared for this

Report Check-In

Brazil to Argentina:
With a big rig pass the cars on the right lane and take the bus line, because the car line is too low.
Then park near the migracion, make your entrance. Aduana is in the same building on the end. We got the TIP for our Camper (12 month!) and after a short look inside our bathroom and one drawer we could go. Very easy and quick bordercrossing.

Report Check-In

Argentina to Brazil. Maybe the easiest border crossing we have done in the last 14 months. A bit of waiting in line to exit Argentina, but then it was very fast - exit from Argentina done electronically, we even got to keep our TiP (we asked twice, it was cancelled per computer). drive over the bridge. Entry to Brazil: careful if you have a high rig - take the line for the busses and trucks, not the one for the cars - height restriction! Park your car after aduana, go into migracoes - stamp in passport, then on the right hand side aduana for the TiP. Done in a few minutes, good for 90 days. No one checked our car when entering Brazil.

We crossed Brazil-Argentina fast and easy. They didn't check the car.

Argentina —> Brasil.

Go over the bridge after you completed Argentina side. Park in front of the buildings on the brasil side. First do migraccion. Super quiet normally. Then go to Aduana, just ask were it is. They make you a tip. Took around 45 minutes total.

Report Check-In

i double checked with the aduana. coming from brasil into argentina: you do bot have to do the TIP if you go to visit the falls and return to brasil after with this same border crossing.

yo do have to do the TIP if you travel further into argentina.

Report Check-In

It worked! We came from Brazil and were kindly received and shown the way. First we had to show the negative test evidence at a (temporary) container unit on the right side. Then we could go to the building after "migrations" where we got our stamp for Argentina in the passport. After this we had to go through customs with the camper where they checked our passports. Then came the vehicle check where our insurance certificate and owner's papers were requested. Finally, the camper was inspected and we were able to drive on.

Leaving Argentina Very easy border. It's an drive through office. Present your documents and go to Brazilian side.
About TIP: if you go us we did, just visiting Brazilian Iguazu, you don't need import papers. You need them only if you plan to drive further inside Brasil. This is what Aduana officer explained us.

Brazil —> Argentina
One of the more unpleasant border crossings we’ve had. At 10pm there were more than a hundred cars waiting to cross and it took more than fourty minutes to even get to the checkpoint. The guards were quite rude, talking very little and not explaining where we had to go next or whether our TIP was correct (keep alert, it feels like you could accidentally enter Argentina without one, or with an incorrect one if you don’t pay attention). They also made us open our rooftop tent (the first time in we’ve ever had to do this), but then didn’t even look at it once we’d completely unpacked it. On the up side they didn’t seem to care about the eggs and vegetables we had. They do check for international insurance so make sure this is all up to date.

Report Check-In

Very easy as described. However neither the aduana on the Argentinian side or the Brazilian side knew what they were doing. It kinda seemed like they had never done this before or seen anyone drive a car through.

Report Check-In

Very easy exit from Argentina. They direct you where to go and you get stamped out at a drive through booth. Aduana is a little after by about 100m. It would have been quicker but the Aduana guy liked to chat. Also he was adamant we could keep the TIP as we would be re-entering Argentina in about 8 weeks before the expiry however I asked him to cancel it just in case there was an issue trying to re-enter at a later date from Uruguay to Argentina. Maybe there would be no issue and it would save time but I personally didn't want to take the chance.

travelling with motorhome :
easy checkout in Argentina. while sitting in the car they stamp your passport out.

brasilien side : park on the left side BEHIND the border.

Go to the emigration office and get your entry stamp for your passport.
take one minute.

on the right side there is an Importación office. here you will get the paper for the motorhome.

in our case unfortunately the computer made problems so we have to wait for one hour.

All are very friendly ask only for the value of our motor home, the passport and the car certification from Germany.

Report Check-In

Easy crossing. If you are going to see the argentinian falls, no need to get a temporary importation document. You can stay for 72h and do not go more than 50 kms inside argentina. If you stay more or go further you’ll need it

Report Check-In

we parked our MH at the YPF gasstation and walked about 400m to the argentinian border. we got the salida stamp an just a few meters further the bus (rio uruguay) started to the falls in brasil for 260 returnticket p.P.
The bus stops at the brasilien side as well to get the bras. entrada stamp.

Was at wrong location.
First wanted to let me in for the day without TIP, when I asked to reconfirm, they issued me one.
German traveling to Argentina for day visit of falls.

Report Check-In

Most incompetent Aduana I’ve met during my travels.

Brazilian side everything went smooth and easy.

When entering Argentina, there was a queue, but not that many people. Still waited more than 1 hour. Migraciones was ok, but Aduana crappy.

First they said I could pass, I told them I needed a temporal importation. They claimed I didn’t need it and kept insisting I would continue.

After they found out I wouldn’t leave without it, they pointed me to a small blue desk, waited there also for 20 minutes before one of the men attended the desk, had to ask a couple of times before someone came.

After they made a temporal importation and it was full of mistakes.

I pointed out all the mistakes and they made a new one, but they didn’t put the full chassis number of my motorcycle (and at the airport where I was going next, it is mandatory).

When I told him that, he claimed it was ok and with his signature all the Aduana in Argentina would except the form.
I kept insisting that he corrected it, but then he got angry that I was telling him how to do his job and he said he knew how to do his job (apparently not).

Finally he told me that I could take this form, or spend another day in Brasil.

Took the form and made a new crossing in Posadas / Encarnacion.

Edit: what I forgot to mention is that there were a lot of questions about my travels (only 3 months, but ok). They wanted to see all my papers, insurance, driving license (also international one), ownership of the bike, my travel history, flight home, what kind of work I do (also at least 4 times the question if I worked in South America) and everything.

Report Check-In

We are Canadian and technically require visa to enter Brazil. We dont have one and just wanted to cross for the day to visit Iguazu and Itaipu dam. No problems, Brazilian aduana smiled and gave us directions to the falls. No visa mentioned

Report Check-In

Easy border. Just drive up to the lanes and they will stamp your passport and import your vehicle in the same place. Make sure you have insurance before you arrive here! We were turned around and took a taxi to buy insurance. If you don't have insurance there is plenty of parking right before the border so you can take a taxi.

Report Check-In

It took us about an hour on a Saturday morning during the July holidays, including time spent in the car queue. Argentina's drive through was quick and easy, just the exit stamps in our Passports.

If you're driving a Chilean plated vehicle and you have the TIP from a Chile/Argentina crossing, hold on to this until you return to Chile. The Aduana in Argentina weren't interested in processing our car out at this point.

On entering Brazil, drive through and park on the left once you've passed the building. Enter the Migration office to get stamped in, and then walk over to the Receita office to get your vehicle TIP, which is valid for 90 days. Nice and easy, all staff were friendly. No car check!

Report Check-In

When leaving Brazil the Aduana isnt very obvious, you will be guided almost straight through the whole lot without stopping! As you approach from the Brazilian side the Aduana is on the very left and is called receita federal, very easy he just took the tip off us. Immigration is the central building. Argentina is a drive through.

Report Check-In

We crossed from Brazil to Argentina in about 30 minutes, because of some queue. Brazilian customs did not want to cancel our TIP, because we planned to return to Brazil the next day. Argentina customs initially didn't want to issue one for the same reasons, but after we told our plans might change we got a TIP for 240 days entry without even requesting it. The way back the next day was very straightforward and completed in 10 minutes. We did not get 90 days again in Brazil. The 3 days we already spent there were subtracted.

Report Check-In

If only going to the falls and the région around, no import paper is made for the car. During holydays it took us 2 hours to cross, be prepared.
