ADMIN NOTE: No overnight camping allowed, please respect the wishes of the locals.
We were going skiing and didn't want to pay for a camp spot in overpriced Tahoe. We talked to some locals who told us that you can park in the Squaw lot near the back by the employee lot for free. We were skeptical but no one bothered us for 2 days. We came back another week and a security guard came by but just asked how many nights we planned to stay. No big deal. Great view but just a lot to camp in
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Unfortunately according to the website and a number of reports the policy has changed and overnight parking is no longer permitted.

Report Check-InAfter a shirt visit to the nice village, we found a document under our wiper with the request to report our overnight stay to the security guard. We called the phone number, the permit was available for USD25 per night. On our request, what they offer for that money, the answer was "a parking place" for the night. After several similar experiences in California, we left the almost empty parking area with the feeling that it is better to end our visit to this State. We feel ourself welcome to so many other States.
Report Check-InVisitor centre said we could stay here. Spent the night for free no problem!
