Latest Check-Ins

we showed up on a Saturday at noon (before the struuners post uploaded saying it was closed) no one around for hours. at around 430 a sour faced woman finally showed up and said no one can camp here anymore and we needed to leave immediately.

Report Check-In

This place is closed since 2019. We were the first visitors since and they are not reopening soon. Safe yourself a long bumpy ride here, Kilimanjaro nextdoor is open and has spots for overlanders.

Report Check-In

Beautiful area, made it with a 2wd van but in dry season. 5USD for 1 person, as described.
Nice hikes around the coffee plantations, and lots of birds watching indeed.
Felt very safe sleeping on this parking lot.
They have a room where it's possible to work and eat, did not ask for wifi.

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot. Nice bathrooms. Car camping is in a muddy parking lot. (it's rainy season) Lots of coffee farmers are in and out of this parking lot all day. The trail was a little difficult to stay on, and eventually we got lost. Not oh no kinda lost, just turned around because we can't seam to find the trail any more kinda lost. We saw a few hummingbirds and other birds as well as a royal rat, but not much while we were hiking. We paid $10 for 2ppl. Our dog was allowed to go on the hike with us. We had intended to stay two nights but the biting knats were some of the worst we have ever experienced and decided to leave after the short hike.

Report Check-In

A beautiful 100 acre reserve working to protect the wildlife and forests in the area. $5 per person per night, which includes use of the super clean bathrooms and showers (though I'm not sure if they're hot or cold). WIFI is an extra $5 and electricity may be possible as well. They also have a few cabanas. There are tons of hiking trails that leave right from the reserve and the bird-watching/listening is insane here! Doesn't require 4x4 but it's 11km of a pretty bad dirt road to get there. That road doesn't come up on GPS but there is a sign to turn off the main highway about 9km south of San Rafael del Norte.
