5pm seems to be a bad time to cross from Paraguay to Brazil. 45 min traffic jam to get to the border, 30min line for immigration with two bus loads, actually not too bad… if you fill in the online Brazil immigration form, they just scan your passport and you’re good to go, no stamp needed.

Report Check-In

Stay on the right side and park your car at the estociamente para turistica. Go inside. Give your pasport you get a stamp. Back to the car drive 3 meters further give the papers, you get a stamp on that and then you continue driving to the brazilien side.

Easy!

Paraguay to Brazil:
Stay on the right lane. In front of the migracion are a few parking spaces for cars - we parked just behind them with our big rig.
We crossed the border on a saturday (no trucks from Paraguay to Brazil). To get the exit stamp in the passport was easy, but finding someone from the Aduana was a bit difficult. We have already walked past an employee (he had crutches because he had an injured foot) - he was sitting on an old table outside the container and was not wearing any official clothing. It was not possible to persuade him to put an exit stamp on the TIP - there was nothing on the table either.

Comments below are still correct. You will clearly see a “lane” which forms on the left side that is for those who need to stop and get processed (most of those living in the local area do not have to stop). The walk across the lanes and go to the immigration building on the right hand side. After you get your entry stamps you might need to find the right Aduana guy. If not in the office next door, Aduana staff are keeping an eye on traffic (and pulling over the occasional vehicle for inspection) - ask one of them who can do the TIP. We were pointed towards one of the Aduana staff who took us to an office and completed a hand-written TIP. All very pleasant and took about 15 minutes. If you want a quick border crossing, go on Sunday when the Paraguay shops are closed.

Update...after we got the TIP, the guard at the exit of the lane pointed us to the right up the hill where we eventually found a warehouse full of goods that had been taken off people. We had a brief search and they let us pass. Another guy at the exit of that lane wanted to search us again.

as said below take the 2 left lane and you can park here, go to immigration it's in the right building, questions as usual, time, where etc..., there is an information desk on the right and they can help you to where to go, etc...
Get to aduana, room next to it. You just ask for permiso de importación del vehiculo and normally someone will made your paper by hand so it can take few minutes. Except the big traffic jam we've got, for all the papers it took less than 30min.

Exiting Paraguay: Super easy to get your passport stamped, less easy to get an exit stamp for your TIP, you rrrreally have to insist and don't back down. Just park your car somewhere before crossing the bridge. No one will stop you to arrange the formalities, it's just free roaming here so if you want a stamp, make sure to get one before crossing the bridge.

Report Check-In

If you would like to have a TIP, it is the door before direction Brasil. But you need to insist!

Report Check-In

apparently, you don't need a tip for your Chilean car. hopefully they'll think the same on our way out

Travelling from Brasil to Paraguay.

Arriving at the Paraguayan border take one of the two left lanes. There you will find a parking lot at the left hand side. First cross the street and go to the migracion on the right. There you have to do the immigration stuff.

After the immigration cross the street again. on the left hand side of the parking lot you will find a container. in this container is the office of the aduana. They will do the TIP for you. They dont have computers. You will get a handwritten TIP. Nobody checks the Motorhome. Nobody checks the papers for the dog.

very fast process. we had the car parked right in front of it. I went inside and asked if we can park there until we do aduana and he said yes so I moved the orange cone and parked. the aduana is in the middle of the traffic.

Report Check-In

Aduana and Migracion at the same place. Migracion was not a problem, while noone wanted to make a TIP for us. After asking many people, one showed us and took us to the guy, who slowly filled the papers. We were asked about the worth of the car, had to show driving licence, but he didn't check the insurance. Slow proces, but all done in the end with no problems. We told him, that we will be in Paraguay for 2 weeks and got our TIP for 1 month.
Just insist in getting the TIP.

If watching a basically illiterate person slowly fill out redundant paperwork is your idea of fun, you will enjoy it here.

Do note the office was closed last night when we came through. They told us to just go ahead but experience with S.A. police suggests otherwise so we returned the next day.

Report Check-In

Easy as pie. Indeed no need to go up the hill at all. All done in buildings under main cover

Report Check-In

No checking of fruits, vegetables, meats, wood products, etc. when entering Paraguay.

As mentioned below:
Park your car in front of the migration office which is on your right hand side coming from Argentina, so keep to the right when the road runs in two lanes. Once migration is done, just opposite the migration building are two small blue boxes about 50m apart from each other. In the one more away from argentina you will get your temporary admission for the car. As mentioned below, you do not have to go up the hill, they can not help you with this admission up there..

Usual S American chaos. Police told us to park here. Got passport stamped in building on right under big roof (g tourist information here too) & TIP (temporary import paper) at small Aduana building in middle of road just before immigration building. Were first told to go to big building up hill on right but didn't need to go there!

Report Check-In

Very straightforward leaving Paraguay: passport stamp and TIP hand-in. Two minutes.
