Our most amazing campsite, yet, and we have been on the road for 56 days and 10,000+ miles! The beach can be a busy place, but it is interesting to see the fishermen launch and trailer their boats in unconventional ways. We stayed for 3 glorious nights, and would have stayed more, but we needed to move on. Don’t let the steep hill scare you. We were in a Ram 3500 towing a 21’ TT. People came and went in all sorts of rigs, including big 5th wheels. The road was in terrific shape.

Truly a beautiful spot! Hill down into the site is very steep. So many people camping and fishing. definitely on top of each other but worth the view and being free. Potty John beyond full and hasn't been pumped in a very long time. expect no bathroom facilities.

Report Check-In

Cet endroit est magnifique, sur la plage au bord du golfe de l'Alaska, vue sur des glaciers et volcans, le matin des pêcheurs de la place viennent mettre leur bateau à eau pour aller pêcher le flétan, ils sont très sympathiques.

Report Check-In

awesome place to park if headed to Homer. it's about 25 min out. It is quiet, and seeing the bald eagles so close is a unique experience. the place felt safe, and people were respectful. the drive in/out is steep but very doable, when you get to beach just park how others are parked to avoid getting stuck in the soft rock beds.

Report Check-In

currently occupied by a social fisher people. not unfriendly, but definitely not sociable. living there for the summer. not trashed, but definitely a homeless vibe.

Report Check-In

Nice free spot on the ocean. Plenty of room for multiple people. Some grass spots, some in the trees and some on the rock/water front.

Report Check-In

Stayed one night. Super dope spot actually, there were a good amount of people coming and going throughout the day for fishing I presume. Being right on the beach is pretty cool, you can even drive down a few miles each way on the beach. I saw some large motor homes down there, just depends how ballsy you are with the steep grade out. Cell coverage with Verizon was good, loaded videos and music fairly quickly. Used blocks to get level. There was some firewood but it was pretty green so I imagine it wouldn’t burn well.

Great view and easy access from the highway. Overall it’s pretty clean. There are a couple smashed up vehicles down near the beach and some of the sites were filled with water when we stopped by.

Report Check-In

Great spot with tons of room. Beachside camping at its finest. 20AUG22

Report Check-In

amazing views, lots of space, a bit windy, steep road, clean porta potty, 1bar lte both verizon and att. stayed 4 nights.

Report Check-In

nice campsite in woods with beach views and eagles

Report Check-In

we camped here with 22ft class c 2wd. it rained all night but had no trouble coming up out of camp. We pulled down in about 4pm and saw bald eagles fishing. Up close! With a background of off road driving, it helped to navigate this area. Enjoy

Report Check-In

Nice beach and lots of Bald Eagles. Lots of space abd nice views. Very steep to get back out. Might be embarrassing if you haven't got 4x4 and can't get out ;-)

Report Check-In

This is free camping by the beach. No secluded spots, but it was not busy at all so it was perfect for us. Road gets a little steeper towards the end, but it is even and wide enough. We loved the views.

Report Check-In

The views were really pretty but we didn’t see very many secluded camping spots with trees. If that’s what you’re looking for, know there were only a few. One of the sites had glass and garbage and there is also a rough looking abandoned car right in your view from one of the camping spots.

It looks like it could be a little challenging getting around if there’s any rain. We drive around some mud puddles. But again, really pretty views. Plenty of wide open places to set up camp with no privacy.

This place closes 1 October for winter. Otherwise a nice place. The driveway is a bit steep but paved. Not really a problem

Elle place
L accès pas facile
La pente abrute
Mais la vue du coucher de soleil wow

Report Check-In

Nice enough to stay for several days. We were lucky enough to get a spot back in the trees with water view. On clear days, you can see the snowcapped mountains and volcano across the water. Unfortunately smoke from wildfires north of here has blocked out most of the view.

Report Check-In

Great spot for a few nights. Like other reviews said, steep hill to get to the spot and back up to leave. Mixture of pavement and gravel, we had no issues in a heavy Dodge Grand Caravan

Perfect spot on beach front and spots for all vehicle sizes. Was a portable toilet when I was there

Report Check-In

Wow, what a nice spot! Right on the beach with plenty of spots for vehicles of all sizes.

Regarding the hill that recommends 4x4, it's rather steep, but that is the only difficult part. Many have mentioned they've done it in 2wd vans and the like. I think a very heavy, rear wheel drive rig with an inordinate amount of weight over the rear axle might have trouble coming back up. Other than that, it's nothing too crazy.

My drone shot shows the campspots and shows the steep slope but the photo is a bit deceiving from that altitude.

Report Check-In

Great site but is popular so be prepared for neighbours

Report Check-In

The site was busy with lots of people halibut fishing, but we found a great site nonetheless. In the morning, after a rainy night, we saw a mother sea otter and baby float by.

Report Check-In

Free. Plenty of space. Incredible views. Right on the beach. Took a van up and down the unpaved steep access road. I wouldn’t try this with a class A. Very strong Verizon LTE

Report Check-In

Super Übernachtung Direkt am Wasser
Und das „for free“
Schöner kann es nicht sein!
4x4 ist angebracht.
Bei nassen Wetter besser vorher zu Fuß ansehen ! Etwas stärkeres Gefälle!

Report Check-In

Awesome place, really busy with fourth of July weekend, but then so is everywhere. Great kayak accessible fishing, and just very wonderful place. The following night it was far less crowded, we saw a few eagles, whales and sea otters.

Report Check-In

Beautiful camping right on the beach. Road is steep, but no issues in our 2WD Ram ProMaster. Saw adult and juvenile bald eagles on the beach. Busy on the 4th of July but we still found a spot easily. Beautiful sunset over the volcanos.

Report Check-In

Access road is partially steep, but can be done by every RV that has a 1st gear.
Several places, direct at the seaside or in the green, also for bigger rigs. Lots of special pebble spaces for small 4wds. Sometimes noisy due to ATVs and bikes. AT&T 5bars.

Report Check-In

Epic spot right on the water. You can drive on the beach if you have 4wd though I wouldn't recommend it. Verizon has decent 3g service. Can get pretty muddy during a good rain suggest sticking to high ground.

Report Check-In

Great spot. Pebble Beach but beautiful and faces West so great sunsets if it's clear. The road is definitely steep but I managed to do it in a heavy front wheel drive van. Sites to the right when coming down are a bit more sheltered from the wind. Sites to the left have the better (but more exposed) view. Toilet on site.

Report Check-In

Just as described! Steep road down to beach, but once down, plenty of space to park. Only limitation on big rigs is the grade of the road and it is exposed to wind (sand). Great views across the strait. State of Alaska formal signs say it's okay to park, 14 day limit. WOO HOO, a great find!

Report Check-In

We walked down to check it out. The road is very steep especially at the end. Definitely 4WD recommended. We didn’t drive down. The spot looks very nice directly on the beach.

Report Check-In

Nice spot, clean pit toilet. Other campers were of the more permanent type...

Report Check-In

Great spot. Take left after steep hill. Stay off beach, easy to get stuck.

Report Check-In

Great spot next to the beach. Number of spaces , mix of gravel and grass. Popular with locals so was fairly busy when we were here. Can have cars coming and going at all times. Not recommended for 2 wheel drive as road out is steep.

Report Check-In

Perfect. Nice and quiet. Just 1 car was there, but a lot of place for a lot of people. Beautiful view on the sea.

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot at the bottom of a very steep gravel road.

Report Check-In

Pretty nice, free beach spot. The sign says the road is really steep and dangerous, but it's not a all. Quite a few people coming and going with fishing boats, but not crowded. AT&T works pretty good.

Report Check-In

Free-very beautiful location but was very crowded on the week end we were there.
