Description

Wonderful place by the river. Site next to the forest road but low traffic. Good free spot for exploring Yoho N.P.

Summer: Space for 4 cars and one big rig. Pit toilet and a few fire pits. There is more space at the other side of the river but it is occupied by a company offering rafting tours. Maybe it will be available in the future.

Winter: Space for 2 cars in a plowed area, no washroom available

great spot, another person took the spot in the trees so I just camped right by the bridge. dogs did howl all night, and then during the day too. I think someone has a dogsledding team. there is a pit toilet in the trees too.

Report Check-In

Stayed here in the winter, majority of the part was snowed in but there was a small plowed portion where we parked. Wolves howling at night; make sure to be cognizant of your food as you are staying in nature

Very little traffic to report, I think there was a road operations centre (snow plows) down the road

Report Check-In

Beautiful night sleep. Other vans but plenty of room all along the river. Hardly any mosquitoes when we were here and the sound of the river through the night was phenomenal.

Report Check-In

Great place. Easy access from road, right next to river. Loads of RVs and vans with us and along the other side of the river. Pit toilet on this site too!!

Report Check-In

After the bridge you have spots (and a toilet?) on the left, very easy to access so busy. I went 200 meters further on the left. Need a 4x4 and quite hard find a flat area but worth it!

Singaporeans here, visited this spot on 17th June 2022. Amazing location, friendly campers around. We were lucky to have witnessed a majestic sunset at the spot when we rolled in around 6pm and it remains a night to be remembered in our one month road trip around Canada. Stayed here for a night in a 24" RV.

Saving for later — will update once we’ve stayed.

Très belle place. Une nuit au bord de l'eau en tente de toit. Parfait un free camp à 50 min du lac Louise. @le_goeland_voyageur

Report Check-In

Amazing place , great for a few nights stay with RV 24 ft .
Great sunset and River sounds all night 🤩

Report Check-In

Just after the bridge there are a 2-3 spots for rigs/tents and few fire pits. It was full the first night we drove by. Got a spot earlier the next day. Lots of traffic over the bridge and train sounds but overall nice area right along the river. Never had any issues staying here and no signs saying no camping. Unfortunately some garbage around but we picked it up.
Please pick up your trash! Leave it better then you found it.

Report Check-In

On the other side of the bridge to the left! The app states is marked as closed but we stayed here for 1 night and it was lovely! No knocks, no signs you can’t stay over night, there’s even a wooden outhouse in the forest. 3 rock pits noted, other vans/campers there. Beautiful river, sounds put us to sleep! Would stay here again.

Report Check-In

We came again and yes, the place on the left is under construction - let's hope they just make it even nicer ;)
Stayed before the bridge this time with a few other vans. Still a nice spot.

Report Check-In

GPS location took me to a small clearing beside the river, but it was full of giant rocks and construction signs... uploaded a picture. So this spot looks like it’s a no go.

Report Check-In

Stayed two nights, really great spot as described. Quite a lot of bands and rvs, so if you want a nice spot here don't come to late.

Report Check-In

Such a nice free campsite right outside Yoho National Park! We loved it and came back a couple of times. There are some spots on each side of the river and when you cross the bridge there is a little pit toilet. About 7km further on a gravel road you'll reach the actual rec site but we always decided just to stay next to the river. There are stone fire pits and it's a good spot for sunset views, too. Not many mosquitos either. If you arrive after sunset all spots might be taken.

Report Check-In

Great spot, great views. Worth the trip up to the falls viewpoint even if you don't camp there. The campsites are plentiful even when the river is high due to snowmelt. Really glad we came here.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place with view of the mountains and right at the river. At night you could hear a wood picker and a train. Pit Toilet ok.

Report Check-In

Amazing spot! Easy to get in but away from the highway, right on the river. Does look like it gets busy with lots of fire pits.

Report Check-In

Several great campsites at Kicking Horse River just outside Yoho National Park. Quiet. Nice river and mountain view.

Report Check-In

Good location. Lots of space and quite calm (early September). Stayed with our small van on the south east side of the river, across the bridge to the left coming from the highway. Easy gravel road and also suitable for larger vehicles.

Report Check-In

It now has many great spots along both side of shore. Fire pits and water front
Very quiet

I absolutely loved this spot. I was before the bridge on the right-hand side, not quite where the map pin is. Lots of other campers but lots of space - if you drive 20m into the grassy path there are some more isolated spots. Exploring down the riverbank is great, by bike or by foot. 5 min from Yoho NP entrance.

Report Check-In

coll location ... we parked our RV 1,5m beside the river ... you can stay with cars on 3 sides of the bridge ... no train noises :)

Report Check-In

There are many spots on both sides of the river. We pitched our tent just near the bridge (at the opposite of the IOverlander spot) and met other overlanders, we enjoyed the fire pits, grey river, and private spaces amongst the trees... We spent 2 great nights. Great place just near the Yoho NP. Recommended !

Report Check-In

Noisy when train drives by (every 1-2 hours). but perfect stay for Yoho NP:)

Report Check-In

As described. There is some traffic noise which I’m sure will quiet at night. “Epic” was full so I’m grateful I found this spot. it’s such a treat to sleep next to a river

(There are only two sites at “Epic Wapta Falls”. The view WAS epic but there were loads of mosquitoes and no river music.)

Report Check-In

Awesome place for the night! Definitely go here instead of paying for a campground in the national park. Right next to the river and the woods.

Report Check-In

Great place close to the river! Many spot with fire pit! We loved it!

Report Check-In

Quiet place, lot of camper though probably because of the Long Weekend. Really beautiful!

Report Check-In

beautiful place, can get a little bit busy

Report Check-In

Great spot. A bit crowded but the view is beautiful and the river helps for tranquility.
Fire pits and there are no toilet on site but there is one on the other side of the bridge.

Report Check-In

There were no signs about rafting so we stayed on the right before the bridge. Nice spot, very popular

Report Check-In

One of the nicest spots I’ve stayed at. Right on the river with a beautiful view of the mountains

Report Check-In

This is literally the place where we learned about the iOverlander app from other campers. The site itself was recommended by an officer in the Field Tourist Info Center - so consider it well-known.

Report Check-In

We spend a great evening and night there with a company of other van lifers. Nice, quiet spot.

Report Check-In

This may be a case where the popularity of this app kills a place? Aside from that it’s stunning! We’re parked on the side with the rafting operation signs (didn’t cross the river) - rafters must use it as a put in or take out? Coming in later and leaving early will not impact their biz so have at it while it lasts. Really pretty and peaceful!

Like comments say.
Few nice spots around the bridge next to the river. Several other people but Space for everybody.
Nice view, pits toilets.
Rafting company arrive every morning and puts boats before the bridge at the right when you arrive from the highway.

Report Check-In

We camped on the west side of bridge. Very level. I included a few shots. Nice views we heard only a few cars the entire time. The water sounds rock you to sleep.

Report Check-In

Nice place next to the river, stayed one night

Report Check-In

Good place to spend the night if Wapta Falls site is used.

Report Check-In

Nice place. Pretty muddy after a lot of rain. ...............

Report Check-In

We arrived here late. On the way out we saw the other spots on the other side of the bridge which were much nicer. Coming from the highway they are on the right hand side before the bridge.
Still a great place for exploring the National Parks.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place on the river with Telus LTE internet.

Report Check-In

great place, great surrounding, quiet, next to the n.p.boundary! good choice!
