Another gorgeous free place to camp! Lots of shade if you don't mind carrying your stuff a shirt distance

Good for a night in a camper van although bring your level tools as everything is slopes. Easy access to toilets, quiet other than hikers coming in and out and a handful of overnighters. Daytime had a lot of construction vehicles coming in and out. Hikes from the lot are all challenging: easy hike down the road says no dogs.

We stayed for a week in the parking lot near the ski area. Our spot was next to the flowing stream and sounded awesome and drowned out the car traffic noise. We unhitched and felt safe leaving our travel trailer when we went into town for numerous hours. Several other camper vans, an airstream, and a few teardrops where also parked near us. Intermittent cell service.

I stayed here for 5 nights until we came back to our site with two people looking through all our stuff and having put all their stuff under our tarp. Had to move sites after that. Very weird encounter and felt very unsafe. I think it goes for most campsites on this road, I wouldn’t leave a tent or anything valuable out in the open during the day. Public bus runs up and down the mountain all day so it can bring some funny people up there. The bathrooms are ok and the service doesn’t work on AT&T (will say you have LTE but doesn’t work).

Overall I’d say it’s a good place to camp if you have a van/camper but certainly not a tent.

Big parking lot, very quiet, some picnic tables, didn’t see the toilet. Nice place to spend the night.

Two big lots. A little slope on the first one. Basically what others have said before me.

Loved my spot though. Tucked my minivan up next to the trees and the closest picnic table. Stayed two nights.

Pretty quiet at night. Hikers start pouring in at around 9am. There are some beautiful/more secluded walk in tent sites just below the pit toilets, next to a lovely stream, easy to miss if you don’t know they’re there.

Lots of gorgeous hikes!
I’ve included a picture of the lake that’s about a 2 hr hike up the mountain.
Aspen, pine, bluebells, yarrow, gooseberry in bloom, lots of wild blossoms this time of year.

Stayed here for a few days the first week of May. Very beautiful location. The drive up is a bit challenging and i wouldn’t recommend anything large. We drove a van up. Stayed right by the trees in the “campground” parking lot. Others stayed in the ski resort parking lot as well. Be aware that in the morning many hikers will park around you and not care how close they park or care that you are camping. If you stay further away from the bathrooms they dont park as close to you. I would stay here again as it was quiet in the evening and very beautiful many hiking trails. There are trash cans and a pit toilet. Hard to find level
Spots.

Big parking lot but close to lots of picnic tables and streams. Put toilets and fresh mountain air!

Report Check-In

Definitely not a spot with any privacy. The cold weather was actually really nice after days scorching in the deserts. The place is right next to the trailhead to a major hiking/backpacking trail network, so I’d say there were about 50 cars all parked in th area. Didn’t find the campground when Ingot there but pitched my tent on the quieter side of the parking lot area., to the right of the ski resort loop. Was flat enough, but BEWARE of catapillars!

Report Check-In

we parked in the upper parking lot, closer to the ski resort. no issues opening up/setting up my rooftop tent.

Report Check-In

There wouldn’t be a problem for rooftents. It’s plenty of space in the parking lot. The area isn’t leveled but as well as for tent-campers, rooftents and big rigs suitable.

Report Check-In

Just a few sites near a big parking lot of a ski resort. Ok for tents but no privacy. Not suitable for overlanders with a rooftop tent.

Report Check-In

Big parking area with tables.
Free camping, "Big Tesque" a bit lower at the same road is another free camping.
