Description

We got pulled over by the Police at this point. They wanted to see my driving license, I gave it to them and the they told me, if I want it back, I have to pay 100usd.
Just for your Info, in Nicaragua when you get a real Ticket from the Police, they give it to you and you have to go to a bank and pay it there.
You never ever have to pay directly to the officer.
Just a few kilometers in direction to Leon, we got pulled over again.
Both Times we were lucky and could come out of this situations without paying.
However, we made copies of the driving license and laminated them in Leon. Just to be prepared for the next time.

Latest Check-Ins

No police checkpoint or cops when we passed. We were driving to Managua at 1:30pm.

Report Check-In

They stopped us and tried to make an infraction, as we speak spanish we argued that he wasn’t right. He left us leave.

Got stopped. Something about driving in the left of the two lanes. Tried to encourage us to bribe him to deal with it. When we asked for the ticket to go to the bank to pay he finally let us go and gave back all docs.

Similar things happen all the time. One other trick is to stop you and give a ticket for passing another car while having a solid line. We did not pass another car, because there weren't any around. Didn't get a ticket after quite some discussions. Be aware.
