Peru
Location is not exactly accurate, but from the 'main' road you will find a small (more dirt) road to the left and when you arrive between 7.30-14.30 you will definitely see many white tour busses. Possible to park and overnight next to all the tour busses. Although there is no real parking, and the road is quite narrow. We found a flat space where care could pass. Very difficult to turn around, as you need to go the same way back.

Report Check-InFrom the corrected location we hiked up to the lookout in about 1.5 hours. It is challenging. Near the top we paid an additional 10soles (paid 10soles to enter this new road). When we came down everyone was leaving and the gates were unmanned. Took 35 min to come down. This was about 3:30pm. This section of road is in excellent condition. The road to get here is in good condition, with some areas of washboard. Elevation in parking is 15.6k ft and at the lookout is 16.3k ft. Plan accordingly, it’s a challenge. There are horses for hire in the parking area. We took our two dogs up and back, no one said anything but greetings for them. They were quite entertained by all the working dogs and grazing camelids. They seemed unfazed by the elevation, cold and wind. Carry water and snacks for you and your dogs. Wear sunscreen. Be prepared for icy winds at the top.
Report Check-InPay $10 per car. Proceed up newer road to another parking area.

Report Check-InI didn’t see anywhere to park here and this is nowhere near rainbow mountain.
Report Check-InA new road has been built to here 6/19 making the hike to rainbow mountain only 1.8kms from this point. It's possible to camp here but it's at an altitude of 4880m without any facilities. While we were here there were only 6 tour groups leaving from this point, most still leave from the Cusipata side.
It's still 10soles per vehicle to reach here then another 10per person further on.
