BLM site recommended to me by the Saguaro Rangers on the west side, about 10 mins down mile wide road from the Red Hills visitors center. I noticed there was only a couple of spots further south and knew there had to be something closer. He gave me a small paper map of three different sites that we could camp for free, if you’re interested in the others have a word with the rangers in the visitors center for more info. This one is pretty secluded and has a cattle gate (be sure to close it after entering) the roads are excellent as the ground is all sand so no deep ruts. You could probably bring any rig you want to put here and find space for it but we went maybe a mile in for our spot just to get away from the entrance. We are in a converted ford e-350 van. You will be alone out here so if that makes you uncomfortable this site isn’t for you. Decent Verizon coverage and A+ AT&T coverage. Happy camping :)

Latest Check-Ins

Gorgeous spot for such peaceful camping.
Very remote.
Some deep ruts, but room to go around.

Report Check-In

road blocked off no access to site. no trespassing sign

Report Check-In

You can’t camp here currently. The gate is locked.

Report Check-In

Open land, sandy road in. Typical dispersed free camping with no amenities. Easily found a flat open campsite. We went through a closed but unlocked gate. There are a few other rigs within sight, and it’s quiet and peaceful here. ATT has 1 bar and 5Ge. We heard some coyotes in the evening.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place, accessible for the big rig
Magnifique emplacement accessible au grand véhicule, roulotte.

Report Check-In

Narrow area between two fences with room to camp outside of the travel path. Best spots are likely further down the road, but not bad for a place to sleep.

Report Check-In

Description is perfect and the site lives up to it. 6 rangers in separate vehicles drove past waving to us. The only amenities are open skies, wide prairies and quiet, other than coyotes howling for half an hour.

great location. close to Saguaro NP west and the Desert Museum. (Note: ticket to the museum is steep at $30 a person, but it was worth it imo. if you go I highly recommend timing it to see the 10am raptor flight held every day except wed-it was awesome).
several other campers here. I was able to find an established site (bare dirt) but they were really spread out.
the Ironwood Forest is so different than the desertscape in the surrounding hills.
some Verizon. good for calls and texting.

Road in on the right side was washboarded, left side leaving wasnt, if no one else is coming Idve driven on the left to not have my car banged up so badly, after that once you get to the gate its completely sand, soft with no washboard/bumps, a few tiny holes here and there but not problematic. Very quiet and desolate, I was the only one there with gorgeous views

Great spot for a night. You will need to open a gate to get in at intersection of Mile Wide Road and Reservation Road. Once you drive in you will make it to the sign giving you the rules for camping here. Brought in our 32ft Travel Trailer and there is an easy turn around spot. Saw lots of Wild life including a rattlesnake and Great Roadrunner.

Just as described by Andrew. Stayed one nigh, there is also another van on site. For some reason GoogleMap originally sent us to another location 20 minutes from site. Make sure to use the Lat/Lon in your search criteria’s.
