Fairly large paved area. Big rig friendly. Lots of mosquitoes but a great view and fairly quiet except for the road. Cell service and several other campers. It was a nice place to stay for the night. No bathrooms or trash bins.

Report Check-In

The large, paved, official viewpoint is definitely still open and usable as an overnight. Only the gravel area below is closed. See attached map - red slash is where the dirt track is blocked. Green circled area is good to go. Another dirt track from the parking lot may be accessible to high clearance vehicles.

View of the Wrangell mounts. Now you should stay on the big paved parking lot

Hwy noise a bit, ledge is crumbling into the mighty copper river so maybe park back from edge a bit. Spot I parked at in 2018 has been cast into the abyss.. prolly won’t catastrophically dump you and your rig on an eve. Locals brap around all hrs. If you’re lucky kids will shoot off bedside fireworks lmao

we opted to stay in the paved spot. the unpaved area, though the views are spectacular, I wouldn't recommend it any more for larger rigs. we have a 30' tt and not enough room to turn around. the 20'-30' closest to the edge appears very unstable and shows evidence that it has started sliding down the cliff (pics to follow). very deep potholes and ruts. high clearance, shorter vehicles only.
the paved portion is small but adequate for turn around and have to work at it to find a level spot.

très bonne endroit pour passer une nuit, vue magnifique sur le parc wrangell

Nice place for the amazing view!
There is two or three private spots and a « big » open space.

Awesome spot, but don’t expect to be alone. Lots of foot traffic to the overlook, and another vehicle the night we were there. Incredible views, and good Verizon cell service.
Just south of the overlook there is a small footpath leading into the woods with a nice spot for a tent camper, and firewood.

We were looking for a place to stay in the general area to break up a long drive. We're self-contained in our 25 foot MH and don't use the facilities. We stayed early in July (before 4th). We stayed in the paved parking area without a view. It was level. Two other RVs overnighted with us. There's some road noise, yet not much traffic at night. It was a quiet night. There's good ATT and Verizon cell service. There's a view from the south east corner of the paved lot with an interpretive sign. This is a free site. The road to the unpaved area had what appeared to be a new berm blocking access to vehicles without high ground clearance. We did walk to the overlook for a spectacular view.

Gorgeous view, we knew it was an amazing spot when we arrived to two bald eagles circling overhead.

Strong Verizon LTE coverage. A little noise from the highway but not bad. Trees in between make it private. You can take the dirt road to the overlook or pavement to flat spots with no view. Both are solid options.

Beautiful view of the Wrangell Mountains. We parked with a view around the corner from the pullout entrance, which may have been a mistake as it's summer and groups of people were showing up til well after sunset (e.g. midnight) to take in the view.

Report Check-In

Looks like the unpaved part is closed to vehicles at least temporarily (see photo). Paved part is still open.

we are again after two weeks. good place for one night stop. The unpaved section near the river is in serious and dangerous erosion. The paved parking in good situation. The view in evenings iz wonderfull (weather permiting) arrive 2-3 hours before sunset for best light ( on the river, not just shiny snow on the mountaines) be very carefull from the land that is literaly falling into the river.

some highway noise throughout the night. not too bad.

Report Check-In

nice place, beautiful view. it's near the highway, so you can hear also from the gravel place behind the noises from the highway.
but for one night it's ok

Report Check-In

stayed here two nights a week apart, view is great from the dirt lot but was very muddy the second time so we stayed on the paved area, convenient & quiet at night

Report Check-In

Beautiful view of mountains and river. Just watched two moose walking down river bank. Very nice find.

Report Check-In

Great view when you camp in the bigger gravel area not the paved area.
Quiet night as we had the spot to ourselves. Don't get to close to the edge...pretty active erosion going on there.

Report Check-In

Absolutely beautiful view and not vers noisy from the street. Some people are stopping for taking pictures but more during the day.

Report Check-In

Am sure it would be lovely when dry! a muddy but useful stop for the night. fair bit of rubbish been left around unfortunately.

Report Check-In

Great Mountainviewing to the Wrangell Mountains. Drive not to the paved parkinglot. It is an unpaved big place with a beautyful panorama and really quiet despite the close highway.
