We loved the tour, we saw every type of frog except the glass frog and we also saw the white cute bats. Guide was nice and we obviously couldn't have spotted anything without him. But yeah, 25$/p is indeed quite expensive for a 1 hour tour. They don't offer night tour. We could sleep for free on the parking lot, though after negociating as they wanted us to pay 10$.

We wouldn’t recommend this tour, 25$pp to see one frog, 45mns tour.
Friendly but we have seen best in other place

Having visited the Ranaria in La Fortune before (where the frogs are presented in glass boxes), I was sceptical towards what to expect from this place. As the guide was not available when we arrived, we could make the tour with the grandfather (who started this family project 12years ago) and it was such a great experience. He was able to spot various beautiful frogs in his large garden (6 hectares) including the glas frog. Furthermore he found some cute white bats. Payed 25$pp. At the end his family served us fresh fruit juice. Can recommend this place.

We saw all the frogs (exept glas frog), payed 25$ and stayed the night (quiet, free). We ate casado for supper (4'000c/c) and had breakfast at the rancho (2'500c/p).

We visited the frogs heaven and the tour was nice. We paid $25 per person. We saw a lot of frogs and they did there best so that we could make beautiful pictures of them. They also have a nice aviary in the garden. We saw different kinds of toucans and other small birds. We could stay for free in the parking lot. We were also allowed to wander the garden early in the morning which was a great experience. Cold shower and toilet with tp available.

arrived late in the afternoon and could stay there overnight in the parkinglot.
We booked a daily foto-tour started 08.00am till 4.30pm including lunch. Francisco is a splendid guide. He knows a lot about photographies, frogs and snakes and how to present them as 'models'. It was an excellent day with him.
Whole day we paid 80$pp and it was worth it!

It’s a garden that the family turned into a wildlife paradise over the last 10 years. Lots ot birds, frogs and also sloths can be seen almost with guarantee 👍
Different types of tours available:
1. Walk through the garden (with guide) for $25/C15‘000 pp
2. Photography tour of frogs (with guide) for $35/C21‘000 pp (this one caters more towards frog fanatics and photographer
3. they even offer full night tours out in the woods (10 hours or so), but need to arrange in advance (no info sorry)

We did the second one, first a bit put off by the price but have to admit we absolutely loved it. During 3 hours very knowledgeable Andrey (one of the sons of the owner) showed us 6 diffrent types of frogs he catched the night before and for photographer it’s a delight the way they present them. Plus he pointed out many birds, told us about the wildlife in general in CR and to finish we still made a littke walk through the gardens.

We were allowed to stay in the quiet parking lot for free and could have walked through their garden all afternoon after the tour if we‘d have wanted. Clean toilets (flush/with TP) and a basic cold shower available as well as wifi

We had a tour with Tatjana and we liked it very much. We have seen a lot of frogs, birds and even a sloth. They were all very helpful for us to see as much as possible of all the wildlife.
We paid 25 USD pp and could stay for free overnight with car and rooftop tent.

José le patron est super sympa, il connaît bien son sujet et sait nous montrer les diverses espèces cachées.
Un peu cher le tour mais bon, on est au Costa Rica...

Very nice tour in the garden of Jose's family. They know really a lot about frogs and birds. Had some very good conservation with Jose and his younger brother. Both speak very well english.

Report Check-In

Great tour, loved it. Amazing wildlife (obviously especially the frogs). Jose really brings it all to life, including the story of his family background, how the reserve came about etc. COST - it seemed from the entries below that it is $25 for the tour and if you do the tour, you can park up for the night for free. Jose explained that the normal tour price for overlanders is $25, but that assumes you will park-up overnight. If you don't park-up overnight (as we didn't want to), you get a discount down to the normal tour price of $20. Wierd logic, but it shows the overnight parking is actually charged at $5pp.

got here in the afternoon to find nobody there
a woman came after a while telling the English speaking guide was already halfway through a tour and could take more people but for the full price
so we left

Arrived late and parked in driveway. Owners came out and said no problem if doing a tour. Clean bathrooms, and electric hookup. Private tour at 8am before crowds. Jose is great and makes sure you will see the main three frogs including great photos of them. Amazing birds gather as well and Jose was great with our 4 year old.

Camping is in the lot next to the highway with a bus stop almost directly across from it. The street noise was more than expected but the 7 AM tour was one of our favorites, still $25 per person. Along with frogs, the tour covers the many plants that encompass the food forest. The owner cares deeply about the plants and animals which is apparent during the tour. We also saw a two toed sloth.

Report Check-In

Very interesting tour to learn about plants, birds and beautiful frogs.

Jose gave us a wonderful tour, with much information about howthey got started, the care for the environment, the variety of plants, trees, birds and of course the frogs. He speaks english very well, and we felt very welcome here. We arrived late afternoon and could camp in the parking area to take a tour in the morning. Wonderful experience!
