very nice camp, everything's perfect, BUT.....
Toilet and shower (hot and cold, very clean and spacious) are at the bar far away from the campground.
but the worst thing at all....
there are billions of big biting ants all over the whole area.
even in the pool, so you can't really use it.
very sad....
and for all this it's a bit overpriced.

Report Check-In

The Lodge is still very nice and has a good price, if you bring your own tent. Menu is also affordable.

Report Check-In

Really beautiful garden with amazing mountain views. Great facilities, with sheltered cooking/dining area on campsite and warm water to do the dishes. Ablutions are near the bar and pool, a short walk from the campsite but very clean and nice, and they light the little pathway with charming lantern in the evening. Initially, they charged full price for the kids, which made this place very expensive compared to others, but they corrected that in the morning to halve price for the kids. Just protect yourself against the many muscitos! Wifi didn't work, but good vodacom reception.

Love this place. Ester the manager is a gem, kind and helpful! She gave us details on how to find the local Airtel offices in Morogoro to get our phone's data working again, a useful mini supermarket and showed us all round the campsite. A big plus was the neat and tidy boma in which to sit next to which there is a spotless wash up with both hot and cold water for dishes, so often missing from other sites. There is a lovely pool, wifi in the honesty bar, electricity and tap on site, grass underfoot and some shade from the variety of trees. Also a Bird Walk down by the river. All in all a gem of a place and highly recommended! 30,000 TSh pppn camping and worth every shilling.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place with grass, almost like a botanical garden with old trees and view to the Uluguru mountains. Good and clean ablutions. Extremely nice hosts with Irish roots. Highly recommended.

Report Check-In

the noise from the bridge is fixed! peaceful nights once more here

Report Check-In

Very nice setting and owners were very helpful. Beautiful garden to camp in with good ablutions. There was a little noise from motorcycles riding over wooden bridge but it did not bother us to much.

Report Check-In

Confusing place. Great facilities. Very clean and good ablutions. We didn’t mind the distance to the ablutions as they were so good. We have had much worse. Wanted to love the place but the noise at night was tough. Sounded like a quarry loading rocks in a truck all night. Nightclub music too. As a stop over though, OK. Clean and safe.

Report Check-In

Well maintained facility. Bathrooms and showers are awkwardly placed for overlanders but they have a nice cleaning station there at campsites. Honestly got no sleep, bring earplugs because there are parties going on in the surrounding areas until 3 in the morning. Was made to feel like if we didn’t spend money on food or drinks there that they really did not want us there. Was asked multiple times if we are gonna buy drinks and food. When I responded that we had our own it got real uncomfortable. I was quoted 10000 shillings for laundry and at the end they charged us 30000 shillings. If your gonna increase the amount atleast let us know so we have the option to decline. Also shared some coffee with other guests who already paid for the pot of coffee and was charged for that as well. When I needed ice for our drinks that we purchased from them we also had to supply our own water and run the ice machine. So all in all was a little disheartening.

Awesome place lovely owners. Such a gem in Morogoro. The place to stay for sure. Try the home cooked meals ... the best. You won't be disappointed for sure. x

Report Check-In

The Place is very nice and wonderful . The Owner is very friendly

Report Check-In

Excellent, very accommodative staff.. clean flashing toilets, kitchenette at the campsite with both cold and hot water with provision for a barbecue. They charge 30000tsh per person

Report Check-In

What a beautiful piece of nature they created in the middle of the town. Tasteful, friendly and easy camping. The host and hostess run this place with care. Food is good, give a phonecall in advance if you want to have dinner. At the time we were there there was a church festival with loud music until deep in the night. Despite that a beautiful place to stay, worth a visit!!

Report Check-In

Indeed the premises is very beautiful. Grassy ground with a lot of palms and trees. The "ablution" is at the bar, pretty distant from the campsites. The owners are very nice. We were staying here at a saturday while there was a muslim Festival so it was pretty noisy. I guess it is much more quiet without the festival. 30 k Tsh per person.

Report Check-In

Best campsite since leaving Lusaka. Owners very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Shower and sink with well pressurised hot water. Facilities clean and well maintained. Good food if one opts for dinner. Was told that the nearby church would be noisy but it turned out to be less disturbing than described by other travellers. Beautiful location with mountain view and park-like garden. Birding highseat at the margin of a small swamp unter construction.

Report Check-In

However. be careful.. Google maps take you to the wrong turn off. do not turn off at the gravel road the place is right on the tar mag. wonderfulband plesent surprise after a long and hard drive.

Report Check-In

What a lovely surprise to arrive at this friendly beautiful campsite after a long hard drive from Dar. We are going to stay 2 night for sure.

Report Check-In

Sorry, for the laundry, I meant Tsh, not KES of course.

Report Check-In

Gorgeous campsite on a big grassy area underneath the palm trees. Very clean. Very peaceful. At nighttime, there were fireflies around us. The tarmac access road is now finished and you can just follow Google maps. However, it is only allowed for vehicles below 7tons.
On the camp site, there are water tabs with really good water pressure, so we could refill our water tank.
Shower and toilet facilities for the camp site are okay. Paid 10 USD per person per night for camping. If you want dinner, you have to preorder. It costs 10 USD per person, which we thought was a bit overpriced. There is also a washing machine, which you can use. But make sure to negotiate the price beforehand. We didn't and then they asked for 20.000 KES per machine even though we had brought our own detergent, filled, dried and folded ourselves and even cleaned the machine, which hadn't been maintained. Overall, highly recommended.

Report Check-In

For camping this is not suitable. The campsites are at the back of their terrain. There is electricity and a dishwashing facility close by, but there is no place to shelter when it's raining and the bathroom and shower are in the bar.
The campground is also close to a church which will preach from 10 in the morning till after midnight on any day or days. This is done with loud speakers. The staff knows but will not tell you what is going on. Even if you ask about this.

The WiFi can be fast if you get connected. The pool is nice and the garden looks great with the palm trees.

For camping they ask USD10 pppn. That's too much considering the noise of the church.

Report Check-In

Were planning to camp but stayed in a safari tent for 2 nights because of the rain (40usd for 2 ppl) incl. breakfast. The tents are very well equipped with their own (warm) shower and toilet, electric sockets inside and good mosquito nets. Good location in Morogogo. Peaceful location, only near the mosque from time to time and the church on Sunday. Campsite also looked good and well maintained. Can pre order food in the restaurant. Fairly basic but tasty and well priced.

Report Check-In

Very nice campsite just outside of Morogoro. We camped here with our own car. Campground was nice and maintained. Owners and staff are very friendly and helpful. Annie even arranged pcr tests for us in the morogoro regional hospital. Sanitary facilities are good: clean, hot shower with excellent water pressure and clean toilets. There is water and two sinks in the campsite area with cold and hot water. There is a good sized pool and stable wifi. Breakfast was nice: some coffee, eggs, fruit and toast. All and all, a good place to have a stopover and have a good rest.

Report Check-In

Wonderful place just 5 min out of town. You can camp under big trees and palms with a nice view to the mountains. Power Points and sink with running water recently installed. Good ablutions. Firewood is provided. Mike and Annie are awesome hosts, very welcoming. It’s missing something? Just asked. Good base to explore the vibrating city of Morogoro.

We stayed here for a few days and we discovered, that the area here is worth a visit. Mike's love for trees transformed this place into a aboretum with good vibes where you like to stay. With a beautiful view on the mountains and the relaxing atmosphere you can easily vorget the time here. Facilities and pool are as described and the staff is doing everything to make your stay comfortable.

From the owners of SImbamwenni:
Please note that due to Coronavirus (#COVID19), we have very sadly had to close the whole facility until further notice.

Owner comment
Sorry to hear of the bad experiences by some of you. The cows are not usually in the field, they are zero grazed, but were let out by mistake sometimes! Washing up facilities are available at the bar, but meals must usually be ordered in advance - we only cater for our lodge residents, but we will help out if we can. Fire pit and firewood always available. Overspill camping (the 'cow' field) is indeed a bit far from the ablution block, but when there are only few visitors, it is near the bar!

Report Check-In

we stayed a few times on our way from or to Dar since the stretch Morogoro-Dar is a tough one. we like it because it is not a detour but still feel very nature and offers nice view on the mountain. Pool and garden are very enjoyable after a long day on the road. They once prepared food for 4 of us (needs to be requested before arrival), it was good and more than enough.

Report Check-In

Nice campsite between Iringa and Dar. 10 USD pppn, bar is honesty system so no waiting. Pool looks nice.

Owners named the place after a point on Henry Stanley's livingstone voyage and are very knowledgeable about the history. Interesting conversation.

Big rig friendly confirmed for (3.7m high truck).

Report Check-In

A bit mixed reviews here. We’re definitely on the positive side!

Nice place to camp and you can definitely stay a day and relax by the pool.

Staff is friendly, ablutions are nice and you gotta love a bar where you can serve yourself!

Report Check-In

What a lovely place! Very chill atmosphere. We camped close to the open restaurant under big trees. Manager is very friendly and helpful. Pool is fantastic. Ablutions top as well, hot shower. WIFI worked well. GPS route is fine, easy to find.

Report Check-In

This isn’t a campsite they have just added camping without giving it any thought. It’s a field with cows quite far away from the ablutions and with no where to clean dishes. I don’t know how long the cows have been resident on the campsite, but they are right next to the only water tap and it’s frankly extremely unsanitary, not least you have to kneel to get to the water whilst avoiding the bog around it! However there is a very nice pool and bar and it’s in a secure area not far from the town centre. We thought $10pp for camping was very overpriced for this place.

Report Check-In

22,000tsh or $10.
Really nice campsite, Wi-Fi wasn't working at all and the hot showers are awesome but the water runs out very quickly!

Report Check-In

Very nice owner and friendly staff. Real hot water in the shower and one of the cleanest toilets in whole Africa since months. Pool is really nice and big enough for swimming.
The bar is a honesty bar. Maybe that is the reason why the writer below wasn't asked for a drink.
Still 10 $ or 22000 TSH pppn.

Report Check-In

Unfortunately, our experience was not as nice as the others described before. We weren’t offered any food or drinks during almost 3 hours sitting at the bar and using the internet. And there’s a garden hose tab at knee hight so you can squat and do the dishes. I wasn’t allowed to use the sink in the bathroom and the kitchen sink was not useable due to piles of dirty dishes and general neglect.

The basic facts remain though, it’s a secure place, camping under palm trees on green gras, pool, $10 or 1000 TS pppn, clean toilet and 1 shower (they’re next to the Bar and Pool area so it’s a little walk from the camping area) and free WiFi.

Owner comment.
Our sign on the main Dar es Salaam - Iringa highway has been uprooted. You need to turn to the North at the new traffic lights just west of Morogoro. (Only traffic lights in Morogoro) signposted to Mazimbu. Then follow directions on website www.simbamwenni.com

All as stated. Nice lush campingspot with friendly personnel that will cook anything, if you're vegetarian the cook will get out of his way to cook a good dinner.

A quite expensive non-negotiable USD10,- pppn.
Free WIFI worked really well in the lounge area for us.
Clean bathrooms, nice place.
