Description

Camping spots all over the place up here but all of them are right on top of the road. Extremely busy resort area with lots of cars trucks off-road vehicles dirt bikes people walking, at least 50+ a day go past my campsite But it’s nice and cool and beautiful and lots of hiking and I have a gorgeous view of the Rocky Mountains and the lake. Still off-season so no services whatsoever up here and still have some snow. But it’s a great way to escape the hundred degree heat down in the valley of Grand Junction. 0 to 1 bar LTE Verizon.

update: you are a full timer and used to lots of spots available don't come here on a weekend or just take the first open spot you see because it will fill up quickly. (mosquito warning true)

roads open again. road is very easy from the old grand Mesa road. view on the road up is amazing during sunset.

Report Check-In

Great campsite on the lake. Bring snorkeling gear to fish your truck out of the water when the mosquitos pick it up and drop it into the lake. A little bit trashy.

Report Check-In

Road is still closed for the season, likely due to snow which is several feet up on the Mesa. Couldn't get to any other options on freecampsites nearby due to snow so headed further along our route.

Report Check-In

Road is Currently closed as of May 14, 2019

Absolutely stunning spots right up near the lake. Not many people either. Mosquito warning here.
