Description

Dock used by barges of Silnave shipping company for sailings to Macapá. There were some offices so this may be the place to start looking for transport for larger vehicles if you want to cut out the middle men. We could travel together with our Land Cruiser on the same barge. The trip was quite comfortable: we could open the roof of the car, set up our chairs, get external power (110V) for the fridge and sleep in our own beds. The sailing was so smooth that we even could do some cooking. Total sailing time was 34 hours.
Beware if travelling with kids, this is a trucking barge and is quite a dangerous environment. The barge is open all around
to the water with no barriers or any safety measures.

latest news maritime services are no longer allowing passengers to stay on the barges. You are required to either fly or take the passenger ship to Macapa. reason are accidents mainly people falling overboard. this is the official verson. unofficially you talk face to face.
do not use middle man deal direct with Silnave our truck 7 meters long 3.7 meters high 2.50 wide 12000 kg just 1700 reais. the barge was delayed 1 day we were allowed to camp in the yard. great people very friendly

Sailings go on Mon, Weds & Fri evening. Check-in is around 16:00 hrs. They say it goes at 18:00 hrs but we didn't sail until after 21:00hrs. Sailing time was 37 hours. The loading guy was friendly and gave us a spot right at the front so that we had a good view and weren't crammed in between the other trucks. Everyone sleeps in their trucks on-board but meals (basic but tasty) are served in the galley. Toilets and showers facilities aren't great but no worse than many fuel station truck-stops.

Caution big Rigg drivers, they now habe rule at the whole Amazonas only one person may come in bord oft the vessels. they said it is also for Manaus and Santarem. Passender ferrys to Macapa habe alimit oft 3 m height. We checked 6 companies and one agent.
