Established camping definitely open and free !
Take the road on the right when you see the sign "private".
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
What a wonderful place !! It's a free campground with an amazing view , we would definitely come back !
Report Check-InLimited big rig spots here. Biggest spots occupied by cars tonight, so we temped on two spots then left in the AM. Beautiful place. Appears well used.
Report Check-InGreat free camping option. Lots of spots but very busy, even in the off season. Spots are relatively private, some more than others. Overall 9/10
Report Check-InGreat place, busy when we got there but got a spot. As others have said clean pit toilets, bring your own paper and otherwise just a really nice free site!!
Report Check-InGreat place. Pit toilets were clean, bring TP.
Only mild train noise. Beautiful creek. Loved it here.
Amazing free campground near the Columbia River. Some sites on the river, others in the trees. Water is very fresh. There is even a natural little pool you can soak in. Most of the sites have picnic table and fire pit and there are some pit toilets (not the cleanest but at least they exist - bring toilet paper). Good cell service. The only thing is that it’s quite busy in the summer with long term stays. You need to arrive early if you want to secure a spot on the river.
Report Check-InA very nice place!
We camped about a metre from the water's edge.
Some folks swam but too cold for us.
Few established camping spot like mentioned . Some of them close to the river. Some ad pretty big rig. Quiet.
Report Check-Inwowww, gratuit, toilettes, tables, firepit, mais surtout la vue 🤩
Report Check-InWhat a stunning place to stay for the night! You do need to get there relatively early in the summer to secure a spot but it’s well worth it. There are pit toilets which weren’t great but do the job, (bring toilet paper with you incase). There were some spots with tables also and fire rings. The mozzies were pretty bad so be prepared for that.
Report Check-Inwow, not only promises are made here.
a beautiful place
wow, hier wird nicht nur versprochen.
ein wunderschöner Platz
B-U-T-full! If I was any closer to the river, my camper would classify as a boat!
Report Check-InGreat little place easy to get to off highway mostly tarmac through Donald - a lot of pitches surrounded by trees, some riverside and pit toilets - free
Report Check-InBeautiful campsite! Only us and three other RVs. A little snow on the creek but the campsite is cleared.
Report Check-InOne of the most beautiful campgrounds around! A pit toilet, picknic tables, fire pits, scenic view over the river. Just wow! And it’s free. Almost all the snow was gone and the campground was easy accessible.
Report Check-Ininaccessible for winter in April 2023,
road in dirt but we'll maintained. campground snowed in no access point
I waited all year to come here <3 What an amazing place!! Closes the get any better than off-grid, right beside the creek!! Happy camping!!
Report Check-InNice! as described garbage in and garbage out i didnt see any trash bins. We had a nice spot on the river
Report Check-InJust WoW, very confortable place, little bit noise. We recommande it. Have fun!
Report Check-InJust WoW, little bit noise, but very confortable behind the river. We recommand this place.
Report Check-InRolled in late and found a spot easily. Nice location and plenty of space.
Report Check-InThis place is magical. And open btw! We stayed right at the river, teal blue water and Milky Way at night. Some other rvs and tents. Pit toilets. If you are on your way from Glacier to Yoho/Banff, stay here! You will absolutely not regret it. Free aswell.
Report Check-InNice spot, definitely open !
On the way there is a private road on the left, but just take the road on the right.
Saw the latest comment while we were in Glacier NP saying this was closed so we stayed at Illecillewaet instead. Thought we would stop by and check while heading to Golden and it is most definitely open. Attached photo is for another road - not the road to the site. Carry on along the road, across the bridge, site on the left
Report Check-InThere is now a private property sign at the start of the FSR stating 'only authorized vehicles'. As well as a log placed over the road so you cannot drive down it :(
Report Check-InSpent 2 nights here. Quiet by the river just the occasional logging truck. Clean pit toilet. Good access from highway last gravel stretch no problem for any vehicle. Level but could be muddy when wet
Report Check-InReally nice clean free rec site with a lot of good spots on the water. Maybe it was just the day we were there but mosquitos were unbearable with the fire ban in place.
Two different people parked up right next to us in our camp. If the site on the river is taken, there are plenty of sites further back, no need to intrude on people!
Report Check-InBeautiful campground, we were lucky to have a spot by the water! Freezing water but swimming was great anyways!
Report Check-Invery easy to access, lots of space, beautiful view by the water, was there in a class b
Report Check-InAwesome spot, heaps of space but crowded. Feels like an official campground but free! Did see quite a few logging trucks pass by on the logging road so keep an eye out.
Report Check-InSuper nice place to stay for 14 days / nights maximum, for free. One of our fave iOverLander. We stayed 2 nights with our van and it was perfect. No problems. Clean space, toilets, large camp for each car / van. We were right by the river. Calm and quiet place! Highly recommand!
Report Check-InJust as described. Great sites many right on the river. Good shade, with fire rings and tables.
The gravel road in is in great condition. The turn off has a small sign easy to find. We came at 4pm on a Monday and almost half the sites where open.
Report Check-InGreat free place with pit toilets and picnic tables. The view of the river is beautiful. The sign says you can stay up to 14 days, but some of people there have been there a while and are very protective of their spots. Make sure you park in a designated spot not too close to anyone else. Also be sure to take away all trash you bring in since it’s pack in pack out and there are no trash cans.
Report Check-InAMAZING SPOT!!!! :)) Nice, quiet, Wild, river, everything to feeling good!
Report Check-Ingorgeous spot, right next to the river. Some have a nice creek. Not so many bugs
Report Check-InGreat stop! The water covered most train noise and no whistle blowing like at some further up campsites.
Report Check-InAmazing spot. We met some pretty awesome people there who were doing like us, traveling. We spent two nights there, was very beautiful and secluded in the woods. There are also other beautiful places to venture out around that forest road. Would def recommend to anyone.
Report Check-InVery nice camping spot with pit toilet, fire pit and picnic table. Also really close to the Highway 1, and not a long drive in a forest road. Highly recommended.
Report Check-InNice recreation site with around ten sites, most of them at at the river. really nice place! you can stay up to 14 days consecutively (for free). you can use the pit toilet located in the site.
Report Check-Inplenty of sites and space. great spot! river. showed up early in the morning without a hitch. will stop by again.
Report Check-InStill one of the best free camping sites in the area on the shore of a nice river. More camp spots further down the road. Fire pits, tables, pit toilets. Pack in Pack out.
Report Check-InNice spot with multiple camp sites and firepits all right on the river.
Report Check-InAwesome free spot next to the river, there was some fire wood around, but I wouldn’t count ont it.
Report Check-InC'est un super spot au bord de la rivière, très calme et gratuit. Il y avait plein d'autres campeurs en van ou tente.
Report Check-InFree. Nice views of the river. Pit toilets, fire pits and picnic tables. Quiet.
Report Check-InNice RecSite at Waitabit Creek off a Forest Service Road. Quite a view spots with picnic tables and firepits right at the Creek. Beautiful location, quiet.
