We were told that the ferry currently has an engine problem and hasn’t been in operation for the last 5 days, they said it will sail again “soon”.

I paid 170 dalasi to cross on my foreign motorbike. I waited about 3 hours for the ferry to come. they opened ticket sales like one hour before the boat arrived, so just waited at a shop across the street for the first 2 hours. once I had my ticket, they let me drive through another gate and I could wait a bit closer in a less crowded area. to buy the ticket they will open a gate on your right side and then you can walk up to a window to pay. wild ride on the boat lol

2000 CFA for motorcycle and rider (they say foreign plates can't pay in dalasi, as others have reported.. don't really understand what the deal is).

500 CFA for passenger. Chaos when passengers board, kind of have to be assertive.

A guy named Solomon insinuated himself as fixer but was wholly unnecessary. We let him take us to a nearby bar where he overcharged us for beer.

The Kunta Kinteh was only ferry running (it's the newest one and apparently by far the best, though looks way more beat up than 4 yrs old).

Starts running around 615a, we got on what was apparently the 4th crossing around 230p. They said it would cross three more times that day

Do yourself a favour and buy the VIP ticket straight away.

We were ninth in line and waited three hours until I decided to buy the VIP ticket.

The ticket booth is on the right hand side of the gate where you also buy the VIP ticket.
