Description

The Kokopelli trail is marked, turnoff from hwy 128 north of Moab toward I-70 past the 30-mile no-camping area. 4x4 only, trailhead is relatively smooth at first, then very rough. You can camp anywhere. This area is quite different from the Moab-Arches area, more desert-like, no shade, lots of antelope, nevertheless spectacular. Free dispersed camping, no service. Nobody around.

Latest Check-Ins

We stayed on the owl draw road and found a beautiful flat pull off spot a little past this turn off. The road is easy to get back with 2x4. We got in around 3pm and only saw 2 jeeps and 2 atv drive by the entire time we were there. Beautiful views of the book cliffs and other mountains in the distance. Some cell service but not enough to use as a hot spot. One of the most beautiful drives you will ever take from here to Moab. Highly recommend staying at this spot a night on the way in/out of Moab!

Report Check-In

There is a large clearing at the split of two roads, just a short way off the highway, that is easily 2wd accessible and has a ton of space. further on there are nice high clearance spots on the Kokopelli trail.

I have 2 bars of 4G Verizon here. There was no Verizon signal at Dewey, the nearest campsite to Kokopelli.
