Description

Very friendly people at the park entrance at a safety place. You can contract a local guide here, I recommend sr. Modesto, very good and friendly guide. We did a one day tour for 120 dollars for two people. Very good. Also possible to park the car while in the jungle for some days.

We left our camper here while we were at the lodge. BUT don't let the rangers give you power, they unplugged it and the fridge thawed

Safe Place to spend the night with clean bathrooms

NOTE: Sr Modesto is no longer able to provide tours as park rangers and marinos are monitoring and his tours were not legal.

only registered tour agencies operating with licensed guides are able to enter the national reserve with tourists.

he is working on a permit but likely not ready till jun 2023

Nice play to stay before you enter the amazone by boat. We also left the car there for a couple of day’s. Safe, toilets, no shower. Restaurant and a shop where you can buy fruits and some small groceries.

We went on a 4 days stay at Amazonia Forest and parked our camper here. When we arrived there was a truck from army and told us would stay for 3 days. They said it was safe to park the car, so we did and everything was fine. Also slept one nigh here in the roof tent and was safe. Loved the forest!

Bring cash and fuel, atm only available in city of lago agrio! Crazy awesome jungle adventures! Did a night biat trip with sr. Modesto to see caimanes, night jungle walk with martin and a day trip with martin. Saw hundreds of animals (dolphins, 7 meter anaconda, dozens of different monkeys, birds etc.). Since it was too hot to leave our dogs in the van we were allowed to put them in a room in the house of martin's friend (for free!) during our day trip. They were very happy there when we returned. The place itself is quiet but watch out for the maaaaany ants! In the forest nearby lots of luciernas, just beautiful at nighttime! Were allowed to use the toilets of the restaurant/shop for free (lots of froggies there at night). Best place to get into the amazon by vehicle!

Nice parking where we stayed two nights under beautifull sky.
Friendly guards and clean toilets

We did a trip with M Modesto
He is a really nice guy with a good face. We started the boat trip at 8.00 am and went back at 5.pm.
We also did a 1 hour night trip with him to see caimans included in 150$ package.
Do not expect to take amazing pictures of pink dolfins unless you have really good caméra. There are really shy.
But the boat trip in the rio is really amazing

Ps cold shower at Modesto s house

Really worth the trip!!

Apparently there are 3 guides available for individuals (non-package tourism) in this tiny village, Modesto, Venancio & Jesus. When we arrived the two first were in the jungle for several days. So probably prices went up due to this monopoly situation. Jesus wanted 130 US$ for a half day trip from 12 to 5 for the two of us with other people in the boat. We later found out the other couple, Ecuadoreans, paid 120 US$. When we asked for a full day tour next day, the price was 180 and he wasn’t keen to leave at 8, as he obviously preferred more people in his boat. Finally he went down to 150 but we got fed up with the situation. Then I spoke to a guide of a boat that arrived, his name was Martin and he was working for the agency Marco Polo. He used to work with package tourists, however as he had a free day next day, he took us in the jungle straight for 150 and just for the two of us. He’s great, excellent eyes for animal spotting (we even saw a sloth) and very passionate. Highly recommended.

Park at ranger station but walk across the bridge. On your right you will find Sr. Modesto’s house. Don’t bother chatting to the ranger, they don’t know anything about the reserve and keep asking what agency we were part of for 3D/4N tour. We did a day tour from 8am - 8pm with Modesto for $120 and saw so much animals our heads were hurting when we came back 😂: Caymans, Dolphins, Toucans, Macaws and turtles laying eggs and much more. Mr. Modesto is a real cool grandpa that knows the area very well. Very recommended. We slept across from the ranger station. Just ask lady that runs the tienda & restaurant.

Toured with Mr. Modesto and his grandson, Jesse. Paid $160 for the boat, we were 3 so split three ways. Excellent full day tour. Take some snacks with you, left at 8AM and came back at 6pm. Saw more wildlife than Coca or Misahualli. Definetly recommended and took a bath on the river and bathrooms on parking lot of National Park are open all night.

Super recommended Señor Modesto, he's very honest and friendly. He is across the bridge from the ranger station . Also has hostel for 10 dollars pp. Or you can park in the ranger station.
Also señora Marleni is friendly and has a store and restaurant
on the other side of the river.
NOTE : 120 USD is for the whole boat, up to 10 persons.
Very interesting tour, try if the marines let you, to leave as early in the morning as possible to watch the sunrise.

You can stay here one night or two as we did no problem. We asked Forlan a skinny black guy if we could park in his property he said no problem. There are clean bathrooms available, a little restaurant/shop and we had a hose shower by the bathrooms if you can figure it out.
