Description

Nice guesthouse in Abri right on the Nile river. You can camp on the street in front. Quiet and safe. Owner Magzoub is very helpful and friendly. You can either book a room for [2023 updated prices in the last comment] or just use shower and toilet for a donation. You can even swim in the Nile.

The owner is nice. His agenda is to present tourism to the place so he acts accordingly. Paid 40 usd for a night with breakfast. The room is definitely not worth it but i think its the only option available and realisticly its OK, just not for the money :)
Bring some toys, pens, sunglasses etc, the children just love it and you can make something good for them that way.

Really nice Nubian guesthouse. Clean. The owner Magzoub is very kind. He made me a price for pitching my tent in his property.
Hot shower. Western toilets. Wifi available.
He wanted me to precise prices for his rooms :
Room with breakfast 50$ (without 30$)
Tent 10$ (shower, toilets and wifi)

We absolutely loved this place and our favorite accommodation in Sudan. The owner Magzoub is super friendly and will help with anything you need. There is wifi which was huge for organizing logistics on our bicycle journey south. The rooms are clean with AC, fan, shared bathroom. He goes above and beyond to help foreigners. We were treated to a traditional nubian breakfast. The guesthouse is right next to the Nile where you can swim. Also small shops and restaurants near by.

Although the owner claims you can swim, antother local said I shouldn't because of the crocodiles. Check carefully before you go in...

Basic accomodaties in a nice traditional setting. Owner asks $20 which is in mijn opinion heavenly overpriced. He does help you with all sorts of things and it's possible to put your motorbike inside the gate (only fits one) so the fuel cans stay out of the sun. If he invests in some bettee mattresses and upgrade the shower it's a decent place to stay.

Arrived to find that the price of a double is now $20 a night. However we were allowed to ‘camp’ in front on the gravel or inside in the courtyard for 300 Sudanese pounds. There is a kitchen with free gas to use and a fridge to store food. The bathrooms are basic but have hot water for a shower in the morning. Variable WiFi but good WiFi nonetheless. Magzoub is a very friendly guy willing to help with any issue. He took us to get fuel at the local petrol station. The town is nice to explore - there is small supermarket and fruit/veg market. Met some nice other travellers there. Recommended if you have your own tent.

Price is now fixed at 20 USD at whatever rate you exchanged money for, rather than bank rate. This is negotiable, but still very expensive for Sudan; only good option in town, though a new hotel is being built near the junction with the highway.

Hot water, WiFi and a kitchen are now all available.

Very simple accommodations. Rooms have new fans and the shared bathrooms look like they have been rebuilt, albeit not very well. At least the toilets flush and there is good water pressure for the showers. No wifi, but adequate cell service. As other people have said, the owner is a wealth of knowledge and was able to find petrol for a group of 10 motorcycles during a period of shortages.around the country.

I didn’t stay here but met Maghzoub at the cafeteria that is listed there to change me some $$.
Nice guy he confirmed the 500 pricing going forward.
He also mentioned there is a cheap place near his guesthouse for 40 pounds a night.

Good place to stay next to the Nile. (You can go for a swim there) The owner is a very friendly and helpful guy. He can help you with mechanics and people in town.
Toilet and shower clean but basic. We were aloud to camp in front of the guest house.

Report Check-In

Clean room, clean toilets and shower, although shabby. I was asked to pay 500SDG/night for a single room (+- 10USD "the price of a tea in your country"), while I know other people payed much less a few weeks earlier. The place was still under construction, with construction waste all over the place, empty buckets of paint scattered around, as well as an old bed and seats. unlike previously reported, there was no WiFi available. I managed to get the price to drop to 350, which was, in my opinion, and given the state of the place, way too expensive for what I got.

Maghzoub told me he was going to charge 50USD/person/night once the works will be finished. I doubt people will continue to come to his place at that price. Moreover, another place seems to have opened in Abri, close to the main road and the petrol station. Wished Maghzoub good luck anyway.

Double for 300Sudan£/night. Good shower with a good wifi. Owner very helpful with good english.

"nice" must mean if you camp . Far too expensive for dirty and crude accommodations. Take the new hotel in Wadi Halfa. or camp.

Report Check-In

The price is now 300 for a single. Nice and chilled place (had it totally to myself as the owner was away and his sister let me in) BUT i would have been warmer and more comfortable camping. The bed was hard, lumpy and painful to sleep on and I only had a very thin blanket. I was freezing. No breakfast included either. Too expensive for what you get. Should have camped.

Stayed with Magzoub for 3 nights. What an unexpected joy. The water may be from the Nile, but so helpful. He invited us for dinner at his home with his family, helped show us around the village, and helped with arranging boats and trips etc. There are showers and a toilet, hot water to follow. Delightful traditional Nubian hospitality! Magzoub can be contacted on +249122886586 (what’s app or call) or +249911220984.

This year the price for a room has gone up due to rising taxes. Including breakfast it's 250 SDG for a single room and 300 SDG for a double.

Report Check-In

Good place to stay on your way for a night. A lot of curious people. Owner Magzoub is indeed friendly and can organise just about anything, but don't believe everything he says. Water from the taps comes straight from the Nile.
