Description

Informal camping at the restaurant just up the road. (near the bathrooms). For those with rigs, you can park in the lots along the road.
We were on bikes, so we didn't want to haul our camping gear down to the cave and away from the bikes. The owner of the restaurant let us camp in their garden. they charged us 80 pesos for dinner and camping for two. There is a shower downstairs in the men's bathroom.
There is a formal camping at the cave, which is a 15 minute walk from the road. Cost : 50$ Mx in addition to the entrance fee which is 100$ p/p.

While we were checking in to see the Sòltano a man who speaks English did a little translating for us and he said we could camp next to the restaurant next to the street in our van for $100p. When we bought our tickets that guy said to go up and camp on the upper road directly above the entrance (go past the entrance up the hill and make the first left. We looked for a suitable spot after the pavement ends but weren’t convinced it was respectful enough of the people living on the road and it was quite narrow. Went back down to the restaurant. Paid $100 to park our van next to the restaurant. The sòtano is well worth the trip to see it. We didn’t use any of the facilities here so have no info on them. Definitely best time to visit is sunrise and sunset.

They have an en suite room available now for 300 pesos. It's tiny and was not cleaned when we stayed, we also had to remind couple of times to provide us with toilet paper and towels. Lukewarm water.
Tent camping available for 100 pesos per tent but as it had been raining, it was very wet and muddy. Camping on the restaurant terrace under roof was also an option but we were told that we need to pack everything around 5-6 am when people start to arrive.
Maybe it was due to holidays but all the attitude was pretty rude and focused on getting money. We also ate at the restaurant but portions were so small that we left the table still hungry (we are not big eaters), so 70 pesos for this meal was definitely too much.

Free to park on the strip of flat area between restaurant and road. Was charged for a hot shower-25p. Had dinner here for 60 pesos. Nice lady that checked me in. Not very busy this time of year.

We just asked if we could park our car here overnight and they said it was fine. We camped inside the van with no problems. Used the bathrooms in the morning for 5p

Covered camping right outside of restaurant above entrance to Sotano de Las Golondrinas. The view was spectacular of the surrounding hillside. Kind owner only charged 50 pesos for tent camping beneath this awning and left flush toilets open for use overnight. Did not inspect shower situation. WiFi available at restaurant at 7 pesos/hr cost - as reported by fellow overlander it was still slow. The great thing was we got to sleep next to our bike and it was only about a 15 minute walk from the tent to view of Golondrinas!

The camping deal is over. Now it's 100 pesos for a tent plus the food you would eat at the restaurant. The upper bathroom is closed during the night, but there is another with a shower downstairs.

Comedor La Huastequita has hidden lawn area for tents. Two (cold) showers, though one was disconnected at the time of this writing. Nice guy working here, asked 50 pesos for one person, tent camping, which I gladly paid. Arrived too late for dinner so no free camping deal?

Nice man suggested I set up my tent under the concrete roof of the terrace eating area since it looked like rain tonight.

Located ~100m from the entrance of the 587 stair path to the cave.

7 pesos/hr internet service available at several abarrotes in town, including this restaurant. 12 pesos/2 hr; 15 pesos/3 hr

Because I asked 5 different people beforehand and got 5 different answers: On 02Oct18, clear skies; sunrise nominally 7:27am; birds started emerging at 7:12am and finished emerging at 7:28am.

Paid 30 pesos entry and extra 20 tip for being tied up and peeking over the edge of the cave.

4runner/rtt As previously mentioned, flat strip of grass to park up on between the restaurant and the road. there was no fee and we weren't asked to eat I the restaurant but is the right thing to do for a free night's camp! the men's loos in the restaurant have a shower (which I used too). usual nightime entertainment/ noises.

We were on motorcycles and camped in the backyard of the restaurant for the night. We left our bikes out front and put our panniers inside the owners house. She was a sweetheart. No charge for camping but we ate dinner here.
