Description

MODERATOR NOTE: Closed, see nearby entry for new location

From the village of Cuispe (30 min drive from Pedro Ruiz, good dirt) you can walk to the waterfall Yumbilla. But before you have to register at the office, which is on the plaza de armas of the village. It's 10sol/person. If you have your own transport, the guy will give you the key to open the gate of the trek. If not, you can walk the 5km from the village to the start of the trek or take a guide for 30sol.
The way up is around 1h30, and down 45-50 min. On the way you ll see 2 ohers waterfall (medio cerro and Cristal). Yumbilla is higher than Gocta and way less touristic. We were alone on the trek!

Latest Check-Ins

Not anymore correct. A new boletería is signed on the way through the village to the waterfalls (see new record). We marked this place as closed.

Report Check-In

No longer exists. I added the new location for the hike registration. it's the tourism office around the corner

Report Check-In

No longer the place to sign in. It's a hotel and they directed us to the Tourism office to sign in there instead. (I added a new dot here for that).

Report Check-In

This is now the tourism office where they want you to sign in and pay S/10 each for the hike. We went to the other dot first but it's a hotel and they told us to come here instead. No need for keys anymore.

Report Check-In

We registered the day before we hiked. 10 soles each. You no longer need a key, all the gates are open. The road to the trail head parking was in good shape, absolutely no problems with our low clearance car.

Report Check-In

Stopped to pick up keys the afternoon before we hiked. They said it was unlocked so we didn’t need them. 10S/person.

Report Check-In

If you are low like us, you cannot take that road... had to reverse for a very long time to reach the main road again as we could not pass the first small riverbed - we were too low and road to narrow to turn back!

Report Check-In

First gate was closed so key was useful. Great hike!

Report Check-In

This is the registration office for the waterfall (8:00-13:00). Officially you need to register here and pay 10S/person to get the key to the gates of the hiking trail. As we hiked all gates had been open, so key was useless.
