Description
Had our tyre slashed while stopped at the lights. When we spoke to a guy at a tyre shop later, he warned us that slashing the tyres of foreign plated cars is a popular pastime in Valparaiso. He suggested that finding secure parking is a must. Not sure what you can do about jerks at traffic lights... But good luck!

Happened to us today at redlight. A car followed us and at redlight a guy punctured our tire and went away. They stole our phone and wallet, while some „other“ people came „to help“. Be very careful at this place. Lot of foreigners got punctured tires and got robbed.
Report Check-InAt the same spot a guy came out of a car behind us and made something to our tire at redlight. At greenlight i started driving and heard SSSSSSSSS. Our tire was flat within 60 seconds. A guy asked if he can help and spoke with us (we think he wanted to distract us). Our phone and wallet was stolen after our talk to the guy. Our Dashcam (see in pictures) recorded the guy who made the hole in our tire.

Report Check-InStopped several times for fotos along the way from Viña del Mar to Hotel in Valparaiso. Noticed I was loosing air on one tire and also that a white Hyundai SUV was following me to the hotel even when making wrong turns. Went with already flat tire to secure parking and changed tire there. They confirmed there that this happens often. Guys in car pretend to help, but rob you.

Be careful in Valpo,we enjoyed this bad experience in the day ; at 10.30 in the city and with trafic around 😤
Don t stop if it is happened, men could organize a car jacking...We found 2 men really nice to help us to change the tyre,that we could not repair in regards to the impact too large of the knife.
Unfortunately,Valpo is not safe and all Chilean people we met told us it is an unsafe and violent city. Be aware 🤗
We saw some tourists in the middle of Valparaiso with slashed tire, so it still happens...
