Description

Lots of dispersed camp sites. Rough road, a bit of traffic during the day as this area is on the area where Jeep tours take tourists from Sedona but it gets quiet after 17:00. Sedona is only 8 miles away so get there early to find a quiet spot away from the dirt road. Breathtaking views of the sierras all around. Free. Take time to visit the two nearby ruins, it's worth it.

Closed. This and many other dispersed camping areas are now closed off by the forest service.

Report Check-In

We finally found a place on the west side of the road that was private and big enough for our 21 foot trailer, truck and RZR to park. This place is very busy, thus very dusty. The off road rental shops have this road on their tourist map, so UTVs frequent this camp stretch. The road is very rough if you plan to stay for any length of time and driving from town to camp each day. We did break a shock and tore a CV boot on our brand new truck on this road. Verizon service was spotty and got very slow at peak times of the day. Neighbors were very noisy with loud music and another with an all night generator. This is not the peaceful vortex zone if that is what you are hoping for.

Great camp site, with greater views. As with any dispersed camping it’s best to drive in a few miles before staking a spot. Fire rings everywhere and it looks like they’re building it out back here and plowing more spaces with tractors. 2 bars with Verizon.

I tried staying in this spot because there were multiple fire rings open and it was a huge area and some crazy lady came and yelled at me.

She was pounding on my van and started screaming that I can’t camp there because it’s ‘dispersed camping’ and she found this spot first. Rather than argue with her about the fact that here are multiple spots available for other ppl to use, I moved along to a better single spot further up the road with amazing views. I actually didn’t even see her car when I first pulled in because she was tucked back away in another site in that area.

Anyway, if you arrive this weekend just beware of her. Even though there is a ton of space and multiple sites in that pullout, she will no doubt throw a fit if you try to use any of the other campsites ad fire pits there. SMH
