Description

A hotel beside the highway on outskirts of Cárdenas. There's a Pemex and an Oxxo in the same parking lot. We saw there were many tractor-trailers parked in their parking lot when we stopped in just after the sun had set, and so asked if we could stay the night in our vehicle. It was MXN$30/night. Rooms were also available of course, I believe they started at MXN$395 for a double.

It was surprisingly quiet, with little noise from the highway where the security guy got us to park. There was some noise from the trucks idling during the night.

The hotel has wifi, but we didn't use it, we were parked too far away to have used it anyway. There's a little shower booth in the parking lot, the sign said MXN$25 per shower, but we didn't try them. While there may be bathrooms in the hotel's lobby, the security guy told us to use the Pemex's/Oxxo's.

Overall, we felt safe, and slept surprisingly well considering the proximity to the highway. For the price, you can't beat it if you need somewhere simple to sleep as the sun's going down and you're not where you ideally want to be.

Large Pemex and a hotel. The hotel was charging 750P for two adults and two kids so we decided to sleep on the parking lot next to the hotel. At the evening a man came and charged us 125P. Perhaps if staying at the Pemex side, it would be for free. We had a good sleep but the trucks can be noisy. There is a toilet, shower and Oxxo. Felt safe.

Pros- hot showers, taco stand, free wifi, convenience store, very safe
Cons- noisy. Periods of quiet interrupted by beeping, idling, and other semi truck noises when they come and go through the night

Very convenient place, because at the edge of the highway. We parked near the hotel and the showers. Surrounded by trucks, we spent a very quiet night, almost noiseless. It's a good stop for 50 pesos. The 25 peso showers are pretty clean! Toilets at 5 pesos. Security and free spotty WiFi.

Safe place for a night, but VERY noisy. We first parked near the hotel entrance, but the trucks behind us were idling - no sleep possible. Asked the security, he put us in the back of the lot, way better. And they raised the prices, by the way, it is 50 MXN now, you get a receipt.

Very clean hotel with good wifi and great air conditioning. It's 395 for a single person in a double room.

We stayed one night here and was ok, we stayed on the hotel parking, at the end to avoid the road noise! Trucks arrive until 8pm, but the night was quite! The security guard came around 8.30pm to collect the 45pesos for the night! We felt very safe, toilets 5pesos. Ok for one stop just to sleep.

Good place for one night. It’s full of trucks so you will hear some of them arriving and leaving but it’s okay. Safe place. Very good WiFi. Toilets are 5 pesos and they are not so good.

Worst night sleep we’ve had. This is just a busy lot where truckers pull over for the night and run their trucks non-stop. So noisy. Absolutely no breeze and the worst mosquitos we’ve seen from California to Panama. We have a rooftop tent and somehow at least 50 got inside. If you have a similar set up or do not have AC in your rig, don’t sleep here. In fact, avoid Cardenas all together if possible, as this is not worth any stop!

Good overnight stay ! Not so noisy compared to other places we slept in Mexico :-). We parked in front of the hotel. Good tacos kiosk !

Report Check-In

don't sleep in the parking lot unless you have fans. very hot and humid. the mosquitos are terrible! We had the smallest hole in our nets and a ton found their way in. We were swarmed. ended up getting a hotel room at 3am... for 500mxn !!!! didn't care at the point. just wanted to escape the bugs and the humidity.

We stay here one night on the parking just in front of the hostel. A guard asks us 30 pesos. A little noisy but not too much. Wifi very slow. Password :

keep your fuel ticket, then you may stay for free. Wifi was okay, showers were clean and hot.

Report Check-In

Very very very noisy all night long, because of trucks entering and leaving the parking lot all night , and engines turned on very often. I'll never come back.

Report Check-In

Don't need to ask reception, you can just park in front and at some point someone will come charge you the 30 pesos. Showers are 25 pesos, but not so clean and we are not so sure there was warm water (came just at the end). The parking fill up very quickly, but some people arrived late so a little noisy (but not from the highway). Oxxo is convenient and the restaurant too. Feel very safe.

You could probably even try slipping in between the semis and not paying, but I'm not going to recommend you do, especially given the very cheap price.
