Description

Added another entry to show this is a great camp-ground/park-up spot & not just a hostel. We loved it here & parked-up for a few days. Beautiful location, friendly owner; bilingual folks (English/Spanish). Very strong wifi.

The place has excellent facilities (well equipped kitchen including a real wood-fired pizza oven) great hot shower. A short walk into town. Rooms for a reasonable price, big-rig in the garden, but if you are really big there is a nice space to park-up just outside the gate. Route down from the road is a bit narrow but most big-rigs should get through with a bit of care, follow the signs. $5pppn.

Report Check-In

It was a very relaxing stay at this finca . We loved the animals around and the hike to Nariz del Diablo.

Report Check-In

We loved this place! Victor is a great host. He speaks English and Spanish. Marco the Parrot is sweet and now there is also two adorable cats. We got a good amount of cat therapy. <3 Victor’s garden is amazing. We bought a big bunch of veggies and lemons.

Report Check-In

Victor is really nice person. It‘s a nice place to stay in Alausi. He also has a funny bird (papagei) how is name is marco. So if you fgo there say hello from us;)

Report Check-In

Great estate, good place for camping and the rooms are clean and good. Victor is super helpful. His parrot Marco is a born entertainer. Ask Victor to give you a tour of the farm, it’s very impressive

Report Check-In

We really liked the camping. It has a bathroom, hot shower, a communal kitchen, water, and the internet is very good. We paid $5 per person to stay with our Camper. The property also has private rooms. Victor and his mother are very kind people and were always on hand for whatever we needed. The space is very beautiful, with a vegetable garden, plants, flowers... They sell organic products. Thank you for the hospitality!

We stayed for one night, only because we were rushing to get to the border because we were out of time for our 90 days in Ecuador. Everything was very nice and quiet. We plan to return and stay for longer very soon! Here is Victor's updated WhatsApp number: +593 98 947 6530

Super chill place to stay on this organic farm land with nice views. Hot shower, clean bathroom, comedor, nice fire area and long table outside (but under a roof) where the WiFi is. Lots of birds, chicken, an adopted parrot and three sweet adopted dogs, a goat and a pig.
Bought the coffee we helped toast ourselves(very interesting process) and delicious tortilla chips sauce and pasta sauce made from his sisters organic Pomodori tomatoes. We were too early for the Fig jam, he was just harvesting the figs, otherwise we would have bought that as well. Victor and his mom are super nice people who are passionate about their organic farm. Its a hostal so he has rooms too. Recommend and especially for families with kids. We could do our laundry (dryer included) there as well (5$)

First class wifi, hot shower and kitchen in very good condition. We wanted to stay two nights that turned into six very quiet nights.
We felt very welcomed. Thanks again. Highly recommended.

Report Check-In

Great spot, very friendly and helpful owner. Stayed 2 nights, 5$ pp per night. Recommended!
BUT: dont go to Alausi because of the train, its not running since a time and how it looks like it won't run the next time....

Victor and his Mom have a really great Farm with a lot of homemade and very delicious and great products to sell (great dark roast Coffee!!!, strawberry and figs jam, Coffee likor, strawberry Likor, eggs, cacao, chia). we bought some from everything -very very good. Hot, and I mean really hot shower, very fast wifi, well dotated kitchen.

Victor and his mom are great and very friendly and helpful hosts. We had a wonderful time and felt very welcomed .thanks again!

Report Check-In

Good option on the way to/from Cuenca. Bathroom with hot shower (we didn’t use the shower), full kitchen with fridge, oven, and sink. Covered outdoor area if it rains. Hammock. WiFi. Peaceful during the day, but noisy overnight with dogs barking and rooster crowing a few yards away beginning around 4 am. But there is everything an overlander would need and Victor is a gracious host. For bigger rigs, note that Alausi is full of narrow, winding roads going up the hill.

Report Check-In

Great place to camp. Victor has got a lot of interesting things going on at his farm/camp. Good water, hot shower, Wi-Fi and animals. It was a fun stop. Sometimes he has vegetables to sell, plus jam and coffee.

Report Check-In

Great place to stay and work online Very hot shower. Victor is a great host. Cost 5 USD per person per night. We will stay here again.

Report Check-In

Nice place to stay just a short walk to town. Due to the land slide completely destroying the PanAm Highway we took the detour road here from the north. They have done a lot of work on this dirt mountain road, but it is still tough and requires a vehicle with clearance (no 4x4 needed if it is not muddy). Victor was very welcoming. Quiet and secure just outside of town.

Report Check-In

Lovely spot, plenty of space for all vehicles. Nice equipped kitchen, good WiFi, hot shower. 5 USD ppn. Víctor suggested a very nice hike in the area, ask him if you like hiking!

Report Check-In

Lovely place to stay in walkong distance to town and right on a trailhead to devils nose. We stayed on the lawn outside which was more cozy. Clean bathrooms and very friendly owner.

Report Check-In

All good as per previous posts although internet a bit unreliable during our stay.

Report Check-In

It is a productive farm with animals, harvesting people, good wifi and a very friendly perfect english speaking owner. A good place to visit Alausi. Follow the signs to the location, steep and narrow roads.

Report Check-In

Stayed for 2 nights with Victor. 10$ a day for 2 persons. Facilities are perfect, and victor is the best host. We made pizza in his wood oven together. Best place in Alausi

Report Check-In

Peaceful and safe place, we were there one night in our way to Cuenca. 10 minutes walking to town. Clean bathrooms and hot shower. Still 5pppn.

Report Check-In

Beautiful camping spot with beautiful views of the mountains surrounding Alausi. We got in touch w Victor via WhatsApp but you can just show up. Victor is super kind and attentive; camping is $5 per person per night and we had access to the kitchen, electricity, a very nice warm shower and covered area with a hammock and a big table to work/eat. We had to do some work online and the internet was very fast! There are two super cute dogs Oso and Lilly :) they are very friendly and playful. We spent sometime playing with both of them.

We camped under a little covered patio (though you can camp in the green areas if you want) and brought our bikes under so they could stay dry in case of rain. Victor grew up in Connecticut and is super kind and interesting; he is fully bilingual as well. He is super knowledgeable about permaculture, the town of Alausi and its surroundings; we enjoyed chatting w him. We heard he grew veggies and ended up falling in love with the pasta sauce he makes + his chocolate (for hot cocoa) is delicious; we bought some to bring with us.

We needed to keep moving but kinda wished we could have stayed longer. It was such a cool and relaxed place.

A real nice place! I was craving for vegetables after the jungle and Perú and here I was lead straight into the garden and got a lot of herbs to make tea, seansoning for soups and veggies for a whole week!!
The kitchen works fine for me and the place to park is big enough, the shower great and I had a nice walk straight into the nature after leaving the premises. Nice and friendly owners could stay here longer than 1 day but I have to go again tomorrow

Report Check-In

Realy great place ! Enjoy the place and the owner, Victor.

Report Check-In

All info as noted before. Very quiet night, nice people.
Fyi, Victor sells beautiful vegetables from his farm. He had tomatoes, lettuce, peppers. Garlic, kale, eggs and more. So don’t make the same mistake as I did and go shopping in town before.

Report Check-In

Nice campground with clean bathroom, friendly lady who speaks English, best place to take the train to Devil's nose. 20 min walking to the tren station and centro. The Wifi did not work. For big rigs the road is a little bit tricky.

Report Check-In

We paid 5 US$/person/night. Wifi works really unstable. Quiet.
To go through the entrance gate you should not be higher than 3,50 m - it is no problem going in if you are 3,57 m, but out it is better to be lower. But there is a place outside for higher rigs.

Report Check-In

All info is good. Peaceful location. Only addition is that the WiFi really sucked, as it boots you out all the time without warning.

Report Check-In

Excellent place to stay. Great facilities with hot shower and walking distance from an interesting town. Ask Victor to show you around his mature food forest farm... fascinating. Our dog was welcome but be aware the finca has its own dogs and cats.

Report Check-In

Beware of the height of your vehicle. We are 3.65 metres high and scraped the automatic gate mechanism. There is nowhere to turn around and if you're too high you would have to reverse about 400 metres down the narrow treelined road.

Report Check-In

as another posts, good place, nice owners, but wifi keeps stopping and very slow. Shower and cleaning very good.

Report Check-In

Wonderful place. Beautful quiet grounds. Victor (owner) speaks fluent English and Spanish. $10pn. Electricity, water, hot showers, fast wifi and level parking. Friendly dogs. Route from bullring is well-sign-posted. Short (steep) walk to shops and train station for Nariz del Diablo train ride. (Wow.)

Report Check-In

Nice place. Nice lady. Nice dogs. Nice helpful guy. Recommanded.

Report Check-In

Very good stay, one of the hotest shower for long time. Easy walk for train. Very friendly.

Report Check-In

All the info mentioned by others is correct BUT I also want to mention that starting in the night you hear dogs barking from the surrounded area AND in the morning, when it's still dark, the roosters/cocks are starting to KUKKELEKUUCC... just you know..

Report Check-In

We had a nice stay here. Big parking lot, shower lukewarm, clean bathroom. The women who checked us in seemed reluctant to let us use the kitchen, saying it was for people staying in the rooms. We told her we only wanted to boil some water and she let us use it. Quiet

Report Check-In

Very convenient lot to park. Hot shower at specific overlander bathroom, kitchen available. Nice, flat parking next to the hostel (in its ample yard). Quiet (apart from sounds of animals), clean and safe. Thanks to the detailed route description at hostel entry of same place easy to find. Confirming it’s a good place to stay and camp in your car. Still 5USD pP/night.

Report Check-In

Great place to stay for the train, and don't miss the train, it's amazing! Do not follow Google maps to get onto this campsite. Stay on 47 (the main road) until you reach the other side of Alausi. That is where you will cross the tracks and go around the bull fighting arena. At the "Y" stay to your left (there is a red trash can behind the pole). Follow this to the narrowing road, before you get to the entrance. It is a hard right turn with big rigs, so swing wide, and prepare for multi point turns. There is a sign at the entrance. The driveway back to the parking area is cobblestone and narrow. Tree branches will rub if you are tall. The main gate is 12' feet tall max. We are 3.47 meters tall, and fit in ok, but not much room to spare. Wifi comes and goes, but fast enough to stream. Bathrooms are clean. Beatrice is friendly and speaks English and Spanish. Two dogs onsite. a little aggressive at first, so consider this if you have pets. All things considered this is the best place to stay in Alausi, especially for the Devil's nose train ride. Best to catch the 8 am train as it offered the most clear skies and less people. The afternoons cloud up most days. If you can't fit through the gate, there is a large area to park before the gate, close enough for bathrooms, etc.

Report Check-In

Excellent place and convenient to town. We stayed 4 nights, some great walks around. Great host. Access is tight for big rigs, but there is an overflow area! Directions in earlier post much appreciated.

Report Check-In

Great Place, verry friendly. Good Price and for Big Rigs ok.
Except for the real Big ones!
We are 2,3m wide and 3,30 high, and 7,5m long. We just fit in.

Report Check-In

Great spot outside the city of Alausi. Super friendly owner (spent 20+ years in Connecticut), wifi, hot shower, full kitchen, and the cutest dogs! $5pp. Muy tranquilo

Added another entry to show this is a great camp-ground/park-up spot & not just a hostel. We loved it here & parked-up for a few days. Beautiful location, friendly lady, speaks English, excellent facilities (well equipped kitchen incl a real wood-fired pizza oven) great hot shower. A short but steep walk into town. Good wifi. Room for a reasonanky big-rig in the garden, but if you are really big there is a nice space to park-up just outside the gate.
