MODERATOR NOTE: Place removed because camping is illegal here. Signs posted and enforced
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
The track leading to this site has been posted with a wilderness boundary sign stating that you cannot head to this site in a vehicle. Functionally I would consider this particular site closed, but I suppose you could take a tent in there. There are a few other options in the area.
Report Check-InWe are here now and haven’t seen any thorns as described earlier. Rough road up the mountains. No need of 4x4, but it is a slow drive up.
Report Check-InWell, we tried this place out and upon stepping out of our van, we found to our horror that much of the flat gravel areas have been over run by GoatHead Thorns. If you are unfamiliar with them, these buggers will not hesitate to puncture through a normal shoe or sandal sole as well as a tent ground sheet. I had about 50 in my shoe (some into the bottom of my foot) before deciding to head to Mesquite to a truck stop. Neat looking area, but definitely a tricky spot with the high volume of thorns EVERYWHERE!
Report Check-InCamps sites are along the road, we found a particularly nice one about 1.8 miles in. Look for a road going off to the right, down to a nice camping site overlooking the canyon.
Report Check-InSeveral nice places not far from the highway. Drive along the gravel road (4x4 not necessary - from time to time it is nice to have high clearance) and pick your place
