Description

Marlon and his family live in the house at the front of the hostel Gabriela. You can park next to the house. The parking is not very flat but you can find a space. We paid nothing for both nights. Marlon has bathrooms and showers. In the family there is also Luis, a very sympathetic guide who offers a $ 10 per person tour. You can also have lunch with the family for a very cheap price (45 pp / 1,5 $ USD). A nice and quiet place with a marvelous family. We really like it and recommend it.

Lots of options to camp around here but went with this place because it was free and further from the main road. Marlon and his family are so nice. We asked to buy some salt since we ran out and they gave it to us for free along with some lemons. Left from here to explore the cañon and our guide was awesome. She let us bring our dogs and was pointing out all the rocks and wildlife. Highly recommend!

We had a very nice experience here. We camped with our van and Marlon and his family welcomed us and we had a great time by the canyon and a very good meal (ask for their fried tacos and pico de gallo, superb!).
We recommend this place.

Marlon and his family were very kind, welcoming and cooked great personalized meals for us. whatever we needed they helped us (purified water, chairs and tables, umbrella for rain etc). there is a lot of space for parking, they have showers and toilets. They even left cake for us after celebrating Frances birthday. so lovely, we were very happy we got to stay here
with them in the middle of nature.

Very nice place with very nice family!! Marlon and his family open his doors for us, we can park in a lot near his house, we did a tour with Donaldo, the cousin of the son of Marlon. We stayed two nights and they give us meals like breakfast, lunch and dinner without pay nothing. It was the first thing we did after cross the border from Honduras to Nicaragua. We recommended a lot. In the entrance of the cañon, ask for Marlon! We were very happy to stay there!!

due to borderissues (apllication?) we arrived in the dark. Marlon pickud us on the highway and helped us to get settled.
This is not a campground but a (extreme nice!) local family with a restaurant. Next day they arranged a guide to visit the canyon ($15 pp) Camping was for free; a big plate dinner $3,-. Second night we did a campfire and a sing a long under a full moon. We loved staying with them.

very nice and friendly people. did a canyon tour with their son in law which was really enjoyable.

as per above and below, a great experience, humble people, never asked for anything, parking carved out of sloped land enough for one vehicle. Improved my Spanish since they only spoke a few words of English. When it came time to pay, Marion refused, I just started pulling out bills and found that anything was not enough. In hindsight, I should have brought more food because they used what I offered in the meal, bring some meat and they will make it part of the meal. Just saying.

THUMBS UP! Marlon & his family offer a great experience beyond the tour. The best stop after crossing the El Espino border from Honduras to Nicaragua. Super quiet, authentic & an exceptional setting.

We stayed two nights here with Marlon Ruiz and his extremely friendly and generous family. He offers guides for the canyon tours, or for other hiking trails. We had a very copious dinner for 2usd per person and breakfast which we had to insist to pay for... The parking space is just next to his house with access to clean toilets and shower. When you arrive at the information centre at the entrance, just say you were recommended Marlon and someone will go to find him. Staying here was a highlight, a excellent cultural and nature experience with a fantastic family.
