As the gravel camp site on the street to the observatory is closed (private property), we found that spot a few hundred meters away. Coming down from ESO turn right onto the main road. About 400 meters on the right you'll find a gravel road leading up the hill again. 300 meters up there is a little plain spot, where we had an absolute stunning night: nothing to hear and a wonderful sky full of stars.

Good place when you want to visit the observatory next morning. Quiet, you need 4x4 to go up to the hill. To visit observatory is really worth to do.
