We wanted to ship our car from B.ville to Kinshasa. We found Chris (working for AGL: +242 05 675 0815) who could organize the shipping of our car (200,000 CFA) with Sheik (+242 06 696 9072). Additionally, you pay:
- 1,500 CFA for entry into the port (Vignette du port)
- Pont bascul (loading the car onto the ship with a crane) 60,000-80,000 CFA for a 4x4
- CdP at customs 25,000 CFA (we did not have to pay)
- Port fees (5,500 CFA per ton weight of the car)
- Fees for river maintenance (Service de SCEVN) 3,500 CFA per ton weight of the car
We didn't ship because we couldn’t cross with the car and had to cross separately. We didn’t want to be separated from our car. We didn’t experience corruption directed at us and felt somewhat protected by the people as white individuals, but we observed a lot of corruption against locals.
