There's roadwork on a very steep mountain pass which has led to both directions being covered gravel and loose rocks. Locals have a hard time getting across too. If you decide to pass, only do so with 4x4.

This section was in decent shape when I passed through. The bridge has been replaced so no river crossing necessary. There is one hill which is a bit rocky and slippery, going down it (S -> N) was ok on my moto. If you’re going up it, it may be a bit more difficult depending on the vehicle. I saw a low clearance car spinning its wheels but it made it.
Report Check-InWanted to add: The road up from Nueva Rojas to Quito is steep which currently requires 4x4, the other way around should be fine.
