Description

Very nice campground and habitaciones near Huacachina built by Lucio, the very friendly owner of the Hostal Sol y Dunas in the City. You can either stay near the entrance with toilets, water and fireplace, or camp (with or without tent) a bit farther away.

It can be tricky to find, so just drive to these coordinates: -14.087496, -75.749060 and turn right along a narrow dirt road just after a long brick wall (there are no signs for Sol y Dunas). You will reach a guard shack, tell him you are going to Lucio's camping and he will give him a call.

Note - Lucio gives further directions for finding the entrance.
"The entrance to the camping (...) is exactly in way to the huega between the school santisimo Jesus and condominio las dunas, to the right side an entrance of (...) 6m width that takes you to the urbanizacion rinconada de huacachina 3a etapa. Go to the end of the urbanizacion until number p-173."

Le camping est dans un état lamentable des bouteilles et déchets de partout, les toilettes sont tellement salle que inutilisable les douche sont a l'extérieur et ne fonctionne pas très mauvaise expérience pour nous je ne vous le conseille pas!

The bathrooms and showers are in a horrible state 🤮 ¡me was impossible in the bathroom!
unacceptable!!!!
I think I can have some good comments about the camping being awful, bottles and basuras for all!

Report Check-In

Unfortunatly this is like an lost place now. You still can see, that this was a nice place some years ago, but you cant use the toilets or the pool anymore.

They wanted 50 SOL for 2 in a Van, but then they said 25 SOL is okay.

We stayed another night, because we liked that it was more quiet and calm and next to the dunes!

Hopefully it will get back to old days!

Report Check-In

Not sure, if it's closed, but no one was here today and the gate was closed.

Report Check-In

Not that hard to find. Google and Maps.Me will lead you here, no problem. It's a great calm alternative for Huacachina. Lucio is a really friendly guy, but not that tidy. The pool and toilets should be cleaned more often and therefore I think it's a little overpriced at 20 soles/pp.

Go take a walk in the sand dunes early in the morning or just before sunset, it's amazing.

Report Check-In

Nice place right to the dune with a big pool and very quiet at night. However, 25S pp/pn is overpriced. The man‘s toilet doors were inexistant and the ladie‘s toilet weren’t working properly. Only outdoor showers and overall a bit run down. The owner Lucio is very friendly.

Report Check-In

It is a good place to stay. He changed it a little bit, so there is only the option to stay near the pool. We had the place for ourselves. Toilets and showers are ok but not really nice but clean. Really calm neighborhood and next to the dunes. We could use sandboards (pretty run down), and we climbed up the big dune and had some fun there boarding down. We paid 25pp in a tent. Maybe not the best place to cone on a long weekend.

Report Check-In

Lovely! it’s a clean (didn’t see the rubbish from previous comments) with a pool, toilets, showers next to dunes. Payed 20 soles (1person1car). Google maps to these cordinates will take you to a white gate and call a Lucio if he’s not there he’s nice. Borrowed a board that I sled down the big sand-dune with.

Report Check-In

This place is open and is very nice with a swimming pool, a little wild in the dune, friendly people, everything you need, peruano style. We paid 50sols 2p and the car

Report Check-In

Google maps brought me straight to this place. the gate was closed but the man door was open. I walked around a bit looking for someone, but this place seems abandoned now. it's to bad, this location is awesome.

Report Check-In

Hmm, weird place. As stated by previous posters, not very clean. Lots of garbage around. 20 soles pp to sleep in your own vehicle and use the limited facilities is a bit much (10 pp if you camp in a tent - seems more reasonable). What bothered us most were all the flies. They suggested we parked next to where the horses were and within minutes our car was filled with loads of flies. We then moved the car a bit further away from the horses. What we did like: Lucio was very friendly and the sand dunes behind the property are really beautiful. We had no trouble getting to and entering the place with our 2wd (VW kombi). This place has great potential.

Report Check-In

This place is extremely simple, kind of dirty and not well taken care of. Toilets and showers are sad, no TP because someone might steal it. Kitchen is basic, you can cook with wood. Got there late, checked it and left. Got the wrong idea from the other entries, maybe we were so exhausted that our expectations were too high but I wouldn’t recommend it.

This place is extremely simple, kind of dirty and not really well taken care. The bathroom didn’t have TP cause people might steal it? Who’s that? The guests? Got there at night, checked it an left.

Report Check-In

We checked there and we left.
The place is really simple for the price asked ( 40 soles per car ).
There is only shadow for one or two cars.
The "kitchen" is dirty, seems there is only firewood kitchen.
Lucio seems nice by the way.
We moved to Huacachina for the same price ..

We pulled into the Oasis on a Saturday and it was so crowded we couldn't find a place to camp. We have a 2x4 Sprinter. We found Lucio's place on the app, went over there, followed the directions in the app, the guard let us through, and then got given shot after shot of Pisco by Lucio. So much Pisco.

We camped in the below part under a shade cloth. We were the only ones in the below bit. he had some new cavalitos. Also lots of dogs but they all got along with our dog Ginger. One was on a chain though.

He has showers that we didn't use, toilets, WiFi that only works in the upper part, a small kitchen half way up that didn't have any running water at the time, then a main kitchen in the main area with all the amenities. There's also a Foosball table and a frog game where you throw coins in a frog's mouth, but Brittni won so that wasn't a fun game.

In the morning we rode the dunes on a sand board. Lucio has them for you free of charge. You just have to get your own butt up those steep dunes. Don't worry about it. Just go for it. It's so fun. Go to the steep parts. It has to be really steep to get up enough speed. You won't fall. You might, but it's just soft sand so don't worry. Lucio is a super nice dude. So much Pisco.

consider camping down below. we didnt know that was an option as lucio guided us up top but looks like plenty of nice space below. we have 4x4 and needed it to go up, lots of soft loose sand. the dog bit me. didnt break the skin but bit hard. the dog was barking a lot and jumping on us so lucio put it on chain and then it went crazy. then lucio took it off and was holding it and it lunged at my hand. we werent even doing anything, just standing there watching lucio try to control the dog. he ended up taking the dog off site for the night. it is the grey weimeriner, the other dogs are completely chill. otherwise nice spot. only charged us for adults, 20sols each, kids free.

Report Check-In

Nice spot and a much better option than the Laguna, especially during Semana Santa. Lucio asked for $20s/p which seems a bit high for camping, but it was a holiday so we didn't argue. We did get more than a few free shots of the local Pisco he has for sale so that was a nice bonus. The pool is small but it was nice and cool.

Report Check-In

lovely, quiet place to stay just outside Ica. Lucio is a lovely host. 2 notes, the company he booked us buggying/ boarding with was not worth it (40mins not even the hour expected) and although all the dogs were completely people friendly when leaving, they were attacking the car as we drove and destroyed part of the bumper! see pics for damage. I'd suggest asking for the big one to be tied up as you drive out as we were worried about hurting him...

Great! A chill, more private alternative to staying in Huacachina, with private dunes to explore and everything. Highly recommended, Lucio is the best! Maps.me was right on in terms of navegation. I added the guard station to iOverlander (nondescript yellow kiosk) in case you arrive late and need them to call Lucio.

Nice place in ica and very calm (better than in crowded Huacachina). Lucio is nice and gave us sandboarding lessions. But it's true, you need 4wd to enter the area because of the sand.

Report Check-In

Good place to stay. It’s hot during the day but cool in the night. Notice that you won’t have a kitchen nor electricity here. But there is fresh water (non potable).
It is not hard to find the place. On the street called “Camino a Huacachina” (-14.081145, -75.749432) you turn right on a small dirt road. Look for the signs on the electricity poles (see pictures attached!)

Report Check-In

Very nice and quiet camping among the dunes. The sand track was a bit tricky to pass for our big rig (propulsion and not 2wd) but finally we managed and stayed downstairs. Clean shower and bathroom. Lucio is a very friendly owner, he organised our buggy trip same day (lots of fun!) and his dogs are cool too. Very recommended, if you want to stay off a busy and dusty city! Finding the place is not so hard, just follow the instructions mentioned as below.

Report Check-In

Dont go if you dont have 4WD. We stuck there. Lucio is very kind & helped us to get unstuck but the place he told us to camp was in the middle of the driveway. Mixed feelings! We didnt stay after all.

Report Check-In

Nice simple place behind a big sand dune. Kids were sandboarding and had a lot of fun. Boards for free here. Lucio hellet me to get a spare part for my gas installation in the camper. Only 4x4 will make it...

Go here. So nice. Call first when you are close - maybe the guard will call for you if you don't have whatsapp +51 956 959 270

It's. It that hard to find. Make sure you go down the road that goes past the school mentioned though- we were initially routed down the opposite side of the property and there is no access.

No wifi. All other info is correct! It is at the very back of the complex once you pass the guard. Just follow the road. There are dogs here and the driveway is sand. Our VW got stuck once.
It is really relaxing and perfect here and the dunes and sand boards and small simple pool are worth the 15 soles pp!

The energy is solar and the water has to be brought in - so use wisely.

Lucio is so nice. I Highly recommend this place!

Report Check-In

This place is wonderful. Such a nice alternative to the town.
Call Lucio when you are close! His number is also next to the entrance. The guard at the entrance to the housing development might call for you if needed. Whatsapp +51 956 959 270.

Maps.me sent us up the wrong road. Map it then look and follow the road that goes past the school mentioned in the other posts. Once you get into the development and past the guard just keep following the road to the very back of the development.

Lucio is so nice and helpful. The place is so beautiful. The pool is small and cold and perfect w the climate here. Cold showers. Good bathroom. No wifi. Good space for BBQ and washing dishes. 15 soles pp. good places to put tents. Sand boards and bikes. Super nice dunes right behind the habitaciones.

The driveway inside is sand. Our VW got stuck once. We opted to not go very far into the property. Air down the tires or 4x4 is helpful.

Only one small tienda in the complex bring stuff with you. His bar isn't stocked.

its not that tricky to find...the place is on maps.me so no problem with that app. very nice place 15s. pppn. clean shower anf toilet in one of the empty rooms. there is also a little pool. free bicycle for going to huacachina and free sandboarding at his property. lucio is a nice guy. he can also organise tours for you. quite at night anf really peacful. best is to let the security call lucio, brcause sometimes hes not at the property so they will help you with pleasure....great place dont miss it!!!

There was no internet when we were there, but had a 4G signal. Tough hiking up the dunes to Huacachina but totally worth it.

Found it easy enough with the directions. The guard at the boom gate was very friendly, gave us directions to 173. Owner is very friendly. 15 soles pppn. Kids free. Kids loved climbing the dunes.

Report Check-In

So yeah... finding the spot is a bit tricky. You have to go past Santísimo Jesus School and right after it there's a small dirt road to the right. If you see the sign for Condominio las Dunas you missed it already. Through that dirt road you'll get to a guard booth, just tell him you're heading for P173, the owner is named Lucio.

Once inside there are a couple of rooms and a large property full of wild desert. He has a small bar, a small pool, a place to cook a barbecue and plenty of space to camp.

Wifi is available close to the bar. Shower water is cold and stars are bright at night against the dunes.

Lucio also has some boards for sandboarding and you can practice this inside his property. Huacachina is a 15 min walk away or a 2-3 sol taxi drive. There is space for big rigs.

If you have any trouble, contact Lucio directly. He's on whatsapp on +51 956 959 270.

We spent two nights in our tent and had a great time.
