Latest Check-Ins

Did the hike mid march, still good conditions. Entered the big green gate and parked our camper van safely for 2000$. We were the only one but there was still someone at the small office to collect this fee. Took a shower afterwards for 2000$ at camping Falkner

totally agree with last comments. incredible hike and incredible view at the top : we were able to see 8 big volcanos (tronador, osorno, puntiagudo, puyehue, mocho, villarica, quetrupillan, and lanin).. the last km is really difficult and the way is not well marked. you have to follow the red signs but it's better to have the trace with a gps like osmand or maps.me. it took us 3h up from campsite to the top (and 2h down), taking out time with out children (good hikers). We were alone in high season ! Really a must to do on the lakes road, even if you like trekking and volcanos !!!

A very nice, but difficult hike: 4km and 1100m in elevation (one way). Relatively steep, with some deep sandy parts. The last 1km is more strenuous with a lot of loose rocks. But it is totally worth it to keep going, the view at the top is absolutely amazing. It took us 2h30 going up, 1h30 down. I’d suggest long pants: the bushes are very prickly going up.

Nice hike in early November. Some snow on the trail and it’s well marked. Took the husband and I two hours up and a bit over an hour down, sliding down the snow at the top. Returned to the awesome free camp where we were staying, which is an excellent spot.

Honestly this thing really worth it. I am a big smoker and honestly yes it goes up a lot but it goes. The view is unobstructed just fantastic 360 °! I calculated the time and distance thanks to an application and I put 2h20 to get to the top with a lot of break to drink. And there is 3.87km up to the top. Take a really a bottle per person of 2L no less! And small traveler tip after this ascent you can go take a shower (well deserved) at the campsite just before "Lago Falkner" for 300peso per person. Enjoy the view it's really worth it!

Absolutely amazing view on a clear day from the top. 360 mountains with at least 4 snowy volcanoes, 2 to the East and 2 the opposite direction. The sign at the bottom says medium but the top is definitely difficult going up. Totally worth it though.

I actually thinks this is “picada” Falkner, the signs tells 6 hours ida y vuelta. Another sign tells Cerro falkner 9 hours ida y vuelta, that must be another peak with the same name in Maps.me much higher and much far away. But maybe someone here will correct me :-) but this Picada Falkner is very nice hike, lot of view of the lake, only short distance in the forest. Sandy pathway, close to the top it is quite steep. The drinking water stream was at this period of year weak and also for my taste many excrements from cows. windy at the top.

It took us 3 h to the very top with good tempo. 2h down.
There is water source 1h before the top in the forest.
Nice views! Worth it. Windy enough so it's not that hot even in summer!
It's very rocky so take high shoes!

Went up in around 2h with the dog and few breaks so it felt quiet fast. Also met Argentinians who took their dog. (Officially dogs are not allowed like always) Great hike with beautiful views but steep ascent below the cerro.

Amazing view from the top of the 3 Volcanos to the north east and the huge Tronador in the south. Sadly Osorno and Puyehue were in clouds. Maps.me says 4.2km one way and except for the last 500m it’s seems to be not as strenuous as the ascend to Cerro Colorado we did the day before even though it’s 300m more up. Did it up in 2h with several photo stops and girlfriend. Can totally be done in 90min if you leave your girlfriend at home;-).

still doable in May despite some snow on the upper parts (50cm) which made the rocks very slippery. Amazing views all the way. If you are not willing to climb all the way, just stop after the woods, before the rocky part. 4 hours return, 9km, 1100m

distance one-way 4,2 km
difference in altitude 1‘080 Meters
magnificent view

Great hike with wonderful view to the volcanos Lanín, Villarrica and Osorno. About 9 km round-trip, 1100 m in elevation. It’s also worth just to do a part of it. You have nice views over the lakes just after 20 minutes.

first part media, after the trees it becomes challenging because of the soft sand and rocks
