Estacionados acá por indicaciones de los lugareños. Lugar seguro y al reparo del frío.

Hot showers are still open and cost 2000. Toilets are 400 now. Opens early, so you can have a shower while waiting for the ferry.
Others stayed in line over night or even pitched tents under a small roof.

Stayed here a night in line for the ferry. There is a toilet (300ps) and shower (2.000ps) service in front if the ferry portal. Open around 7AM and closes around 9PM. Lot of barking dogs at night, not the most quiet place.

Spent Pretty quiet night here before ferry next day. Level enough for one rig.

Report Check-In

Good just to spend the night before taking the ferry
now there is a portable toilet there because of the road works

Report Check-In

Not the best spot (pretty public) but quiet at night, connection to free government wifi, and you'll be the first in line on the ferry in the morning. Public bathroom nearby for 300 pesos. Not open late at night though.

The road ends here and you need to get onward ferries to rejoin the road; first a ferry goes from Hornopiren to Leptepu, then you drive 10km and join the next ferry on to Caleta Gonzalo. Total cost for our camper and 2 people was around CLP3700. We arrived last night at 7pm, ticket office was closed, we were told it opened again at 7.30am. It was still really busy at the port and we joined a queue of around 20 cars lined up on the road at the pier and slept overnight. This morning the queue of cars had grown, and we queued for half an hour in the ticket office and managed to get tickets for a 7.30pm sailing (I think this is an additional sailing today, usually they are 9am, 11am and 3pm) to Caleta Gonzalo. You could go off and enjoy your day somewhere (you could drive to nearby cascades or there are day boat tours to Isla Llancahue where you can see seals and do thermal baths for around CLP1500) but we've chosen to stay in the queue of cars as we've been told that cars wait on the chance that they'll be fitted onto an earlier ferry. We've seen between 5-10 cars from the queue be added to the 9am and 11am boats. There are places to get food and banos for use CLP300, and rooms advertised to sleep. There must be about 50 cars and a lot of people hanging around here for 24hrs at least - seems crazy but guess because it's now summer. It is a picturesque port and fine to hang around if you're patient, if not then you need to buy your ticket in advance so you can just turn up 2hrs before your sailing and reverse onto the boat. Hope this helps as this all took us a while to figure out! Xx

We got in line for the ferry the next morning. But there was a driveway, so we left space for them to get out in the morning but someone snuck in front of us and took the 5th spot and blocked the driveway and boarded right away. So no need to leave room. The director will tell you when to go buy your ticket. But if you can, just say you'll buy the ticket now for the next ferry. Then if the director has a free spot, you can slide right in. Dogs barking at passing cars, but relatively quiet for the night.

This is the ferry ramp. Starting Dec 1, they run 2 ferries per day from Hornopiren directly to Caleta Gonzalo (11am and 6pm) that takes about 5 hrs. We were told that the ferry thru the fiorde to Leptepu is not running until Feb 2016 due to ramp maintenance at Leptepu, so the only option going south at the moment is this. When we tried to buy tickets, the ferries were booked for 3 days, so we slept here to get in line early for standby. We lined our van up at 7:30am ( second in line) and they found room for us after all the ticketed vehicles boarded. There is a small redish house/building right in front of the ramp. That is where the line starts, so if you want to get in standby, park right in front of that building early. They added at least 5 vehicles from standby. Some vehicle traffic noise at night, but not too bad.
