Latest Check-Ins

Closed for the season. Bathrooms locked and chain across the entrance.

Report Check-In

This is probably the best campsites on this part of the Pumalin NP. Amazing nature, very well designed.

The iOverlander pin takes you to the reception where you need to register and pay the fee (cash only).

All sites have a name. The private site space for a vehicle, water tap, trash.

You can reach the communal site with a vehicle but you can park nearby and stay in your vehicle if you wish or camp in a tent. There are two communal sites which are named Cernicalo and Caiquen.

There is also a water tap near the toilets. We found the water to have a lot of sediments as it clogged our filter when filling up.

It seems that most are great for Starlink and even the parking spot for the comunal site works good.

Report Check-In

6000pp for communal or 16000 for a private site.

We opted for communal and had the place to ourselves anyway. Also closer to the bathrooms.

Very picturesque campsite but beware if visiting in January and it's nice weather the colihuacho are out in force in the afternoon. Avoid this time for setting up and putting down your tent

Report Check-In

Stayed there for two nights. The entrance was closed with a chain because it's off season. Cyclists and hikers can pass and use the campsite (we asked the ranger for permission).

Report Check-In

Beaut camp spots with views in every direction. Each with a covered bench for cooking. Flat ground for tent. Space for vehicle if required. Clean toilets. Friendly staff.

Report Check-In

Nice Camping from the Pumalin Parque, 16000 for a shelter. Every shelter with garbage bin, water, Place to sit and a campground in grass.
Twice a day a guy from Santa Barbara comes to sell good selfmade bread, kuchen, Eggs, cookies etc.

Report Check-In

Nice campground. We got there around 5pm and there were still sites. Two options: private site for 16mil - you get a kiosk w tables and you can fit 1 small tent under it + space for another tent outside the kiosks. The they option is the communal site in the grass, shared kiosk and tent in uncovered area. Bathrooms are shared for all. This was a bigger campground and if you’re looking for communal, this might have the most spots.

Report Check-In

16.000 per night. Most sites are accessible by car, although a few seem to be tent only. Fits truck campers, but anything bigger probably won’t fit. The bathrooms are communal, meaning they are a bit of a disaster. The showers are extremely cold - probably the coldest we’ve experienced camping in Chile so far. It can be hard to find a spot in the high season. Each site has little wooden huts with a table and seating and also a trash bin.

Report Check-In

Closed at the moment. Could not find more info about this.

Report Check-In

Not free anymore, since they got Conaf receipts; CLP 16.000 for the site per night.

Report Check-In

Simply perfect! The location and general setup is great. Volcano and glacier views simultaneously. For 16000 you get your own site with water supply and a wooden hut with table and benches. The area is spacious so it almost feels like being on your own. Facilities are well kept, friendly helpful rangers collect the money in the morning and can give advice on hikes. In the morning and evening the lady from the shop next to the airfield passes by and offers bread and cake! Only downside, if you think you're already used to cold showers, trust me this one will put it on another level....

Report Check-In

Came through around 11am to see if there were any available campsites and there were two out of 14 (including 2 group campsites). Amazing campground -- very spaced out sites with nice shelters, personal water taps, a table, and trash can. Restroom/shower buildings new and clean. Some sites have an incredible view of the glaciated volcano. Register at the guardaparque. Free right now!

Report Check-In

The most confortable campsite we have been during our trip in Chile. Even if showers are only cold, it is very quiet every spot is clearly separated with a private space. We arrive late so it was free even if we tried to find someone to pay

Report Check-In

in dec 2021 campsite is for free. Ranger told us that maybe from january you have tot pay. at the moment one of the two toiletbuilings is in use.
very nice view!!!

Report Check-In

para mi unos de los mejores campings que he estate jamás. esta súper bien todo y unas vistas inmejorables. es muy triste que lo tengan cerrado con lo bonito que es. si vas en bici no dudes en pasar.
probably one of the best camp I've ever been. it has all you need surrounded by nature and a really nice short hike that you shouldn't miss it

Report Check-In

6000 pp for shared campsites
16000 for a private campsite

Report Check-In

Fantastic place to camp with a vehicle or campervan. There are twelve designated camping spots where you have access to your own sheltered table and benches and a potable tap right by the parking bay if you need to fill up your water tank. We stopped by the information station on the drive into the site and chatted to the ranger who informed us camping was free. He also provided us with a Pumalin map when we asked which will help guide you around the park and is a great souvenir to take home. It’s as beautifully designed as the camp and park. The view of the surrounding mountain ranges was astounding. Facilities clean and bins emptied every morning, cold showers and toilets easily accessible from each camping spot. Highly recommend, especially for proximity to the Volcan Chaiten trail.

Report Check-In

Really good place, and still for free when we stayed here.

Report Check-In

Just the best view from a campsite. Quiete and peacefull. I love it. Free at the time we’ve been.

Report Check-In

Very nice place - we had a flat spot for our van. We saw the park ranger and he told us it was free (I guess it is because it was off season).
Very nice view on the volcano and calm!
Clean toilets and cold showers.

Report Check-In

Entrance is closed off with a chain, probably because it’s still off-season. Lago Rio Blanco, a bit further up the road, is open.

Report Check-In

Really perfect camping ! Nice spot far away form each others. No rangers came to collect the money. It was pretty surpising that so late on the season everything was cleaned and every camping where we have been in Pumalin.
After the 1st of April all the campsite are closed.

Report Check-In

Perfect campsite. Sharing area or private shelters. Clean and beautiful. It was free cause its gonna be a conaf national parc. We will see the price next year.

Report Check-In

As described by others: a really nice campground! At this time of the year it seems to be free.

Report Check-In

Great camp site, lots of space. Also good for overlanders. We first checked the lago blanco camping but this is not good for overland cars/trucks. No levelled spots and not possible to stay near the lake. Ended up here and had a beautiful view on the mountains. Clean sanitary, cold showers. Park ranger didnt show up even after 10:30, so free. Good spot when discovering pargue pumalin.

Report Check-In

Amazing place! beautiful view to the volcanoes. you can pay the fee in the information center at the entrance, where you can also buy some food and goods. there is also a beautiful nterpretative track to walk through the forest.

Report Check-In

Each site has a covered picnic site which was great because it rained. You can park your car next to the shelter so it better fitted for vans then the campsite next to lake. The campsite is very spread out, so it feels private. The campsite isn’t cheap (16.000 pesos per site), but the national park is free. Nobody came by to collect money, we arrived at 18:00 and left 08:00 the next morning, so we didn’t pay.

Report Check-In

Great camping, very secluded, lot of grassy areas. Huts are great - especially in case of the rain. Stayed 1 night due to bad weather, nobody came to collect the fee even until noon.

Report Check-In

great place. Very quiet
free at that date.

Report Check-In

Great spot to spend the night after a few hikes on the way from Caleta Gonzalo and before the hike to the Chaitén vulcano. Nice bathrooms although only cold showers and most of the doors did not lock.

Report Check-In

The largest campsite in Parque Pumalín. Twelve private sites, which are all accessible by car, as well as two community area with bathrooms and some sheltered huts with benches and tables. A ranger usually collects the campsite fee in the morning during the high season, from about the middle of December to the end of February.

Report Check-In

Lovely premises with great views of smoking Volcan Chaiten and glaciated Volcan Michinmahuida. 5,000 pesos per person to camp in the communal areas (tent camping basically) or 16,000 to camp in a private modulo or “quincho” (palapa). There aren’t convenient spots for overlanders (except the nice but expensive palapas) We paid 5,000 per person but since we have a roof top tent they told us to park in front of the restrooms next to the road where there was a lot of foot and vehicle traffic. We ended up moving to a private modulo (palapa). Very nice campground overall.

Report Check-In

Normally we are the wild-camp-type, but this campground is really fantastic. Perfect combination of nature and civilization. Unimaginable for us Germans!

Report Check-In

Beautiful campsite! We were unlucky with the weather so we didn't see the volcanoes and it was super nice to have a little covered area for cooking. One of the nicest campsites we've been to for sure. Highly recommended!

Report Check-In

Really nice and quiet camping, nice location. Nice showers (cold). No Electricity, no Wifi, plenty of drinking water next to each camping ground. Nice big covered table.

Report Check-In

Beautifull campground with good facilities. Ice cold water in shower though. Apperently all the campgrounds in Pumalin Park are free till december 15th. Very friendly ranger came by in the morning for a chat. Only one other couple on the campground. “Pitio” had great views on both vulcanoes.

Report Check-In

16.000 pesos for a private camp (4 people) Or 5.000 pesos/pers on the shared space. We found 2 hitchhikers to share a private space much better.
Cold showers. And quite far from the walk to the volcano without car.

Report Check-In

Community camping available. Well kept and very beautiful surroundings. Park warden's office is also a small market. $5.000 pp. Water is terribly cold.

Report Check-In

Payed 16000 Pesos for a nice place with cabin. Stayed there with 4 Persons and 2 cars. Common area costs 5000 p.P.

Report Check-In

We were lucky enough to find a free camping spot during high season.

Report Check-In

Didn't pay but with the new, doubled price not worth to stay there if you have transport. Better for free at St Barbara beach or for 10000 CLP in a Hospedaje with hot water, wifi and a proper bed.

Report Check-In

today guards came. $5000.
cold showers, no electricity

Report Check-In

No park entrance fee. No ranger here to collect money so it was free. No cell signal, no wifi. Very nice, sunny and well maintained campsite in between mountains. Each site has a nice shelter with table and benches and trash bin. Water tap behind the shelter. Bathrooms also well maintained but haven't been clean in a while. Only cold water in the shower. Pitches are around 100 m away from each other so it is very calm and quiet and you think you are alone. Gravel for the vehicles, grassy spot for tents, on each pitch. About 5 km from the Volcano hike trail. Highly recommended! Safe travels!

Report Check-In

Still closed. Crew is working for season opening Dec 15th. Were allowed to stay without paying. Very friendly, ask for Aron the chief Guardaparque to assist you and give you tips.

Report Check-In

AMAZING CAMPING!! Great views on a clear day (we were so lucky!), a lot of "modulos" to choose from, toilets were a little dirty.
We were out of season, so nobody was there, no Park Ranger, so free. Very close to the "Volcán Chaitén" hike. Highly recommended!

Report Check-In

beautiful campsite. Rain and windcover with seets and table, nice toilets with cold shower. The Ranger station was cosed, so free. Great walk to the glacier (starts a bit down the road, possible on foot in at least one extra hour but better by car)mainly through beautiful rainforest. Great and amazing forest on a sunny day. took us only 7 hours, not 10 as indicated.
Didn't encounter any horseflies in the camp.

Report Check-In

beautifully built sites 100m apart from we each other, nice bathrooms and cold water, we drank the tap water. No WiFi or cell service, ranger station was closed for payment. amazing views of a glacier and volcano from the sites.

Report Check-In

As said, beautiful views of glacier. Great toilets and cold showers. Good space and wooden hut. We just detested continually swatting the horse flies off in the midday heat, same on the el chaiten walk. Start of El chaiten walk is 5km from camp.

Report Check-In

Beautiful campground, with views of Volcan Chaiten and the Michinmahuida glacier. Each rig spot has a roofed picnic spot, a water tap, a bin and a small grassy spot for a tent. The bathrooms were spotless and the shower was...refreshing. We tried to pay at the nearby gardeparque office but couldn't find anyone around, so it was free for us!

Report Check-In

it was beautiful.... but arrive early. there are 2 types of spots: community and private. 2500 for community. Best if you are just staying the night to hike the amazing and pet friendly volcano s.

Report Check-In

Paid 7500 per campsite. Beautiful bathrooms, I opted for the coffee instead of a freezing shower. Great views but horseflies were relentless

Report Check-In

We got lucky with sunny skys and no clouds. The view was spectacular. Busy on the last Saturday before Christmas, but we still easily secured a spot called 'condor' (near the front) where you get uninterrupted views of the smouldering volcano. Each spot has a gravel parking area, palapa/shelter, cold water faucet and grassy area for a tent. Plenty of places to hang damp clothes and things - if like us you have been having some rain ;). Of the campsites we looked at in Pumelin this was the one of the best suited for us (car camping). Noone collected = free

Report Check-In

Getting here leads through a pretty forest onto a huge opening covered in brush. There are many pavilions/covered seating with a little driveway for one or maybe two small cars. There was a water faucet behind but no electricity. We've met our old friends the Mosquitos again, after a long time without. The bathrooms are clean but showers ice cold. The cascadas campground maybe preferable because of the hike from there, but we had too much rain anyways. No one came to cover any costs.

Report Check-In

Like everyone elses says, superb camping! Quite possibly the coldest shower I have ever taken. No need for coffee. Free while we were here. We were told that they do not start collecting fees until after Dec 15. The absolute best park in Chile, since they are pet friendly!

Report Check-In

Beautiful campground. Nice views of the shouldering volcano, Chaitén. As the season has not yet quite begun, there was no one here to collect our fees.

Report Check-In

Lovely campground. Well spaced out and with fantastic views. Drive in is tight in a very big vehicle. 2,500 per person of the guard collects.

Report Check-In

All the campgrounds in Park Pumelin are spectacular and well taken care of. For car campers this was our favorite. Amazing views of the very active volcano and huge glaciers. Lots of rooms for rigs with covered eating area with table. Lots of space between sites. Very cold showers. 2500 a person but we never paid, the guard shack was closed when we arrived to camp and nobody ever came to collect.

Report Check-In

Wonderful quiet place to feel well with magnificent views of the volcanolittle cottage with patio and faucet, toilet and cold showersCIP 5000./Night
