Stayed 4 nights here, super nice spot. Picnic table shelter with grill, pit toilets, cute tiny cabins, beautiful forested ravine to the north, trail to walk to viewpoint to east. Much nicer than La Joya campground in my opinion. To get here: after the park entrance gate, don’t turn left where it says La Joya, continue 100m or so further then turn right into this spot.
The dirt road up the mountain to the National Park (the only access) is single-lane, steep, rough, and with overhanging branches. Not for the faint of heart. Some roadwork was being done on the day I left. 2wd high roof Sprinter van made it fine, and I did see small Honda Civic size cars up here. I would not try the road without 4wd if it was wet.
Report Check-InCouldn’t enter without a 4x4 (we have a minivan) maybe because of the strong rains of the day before.
