We stayed overnight in front of the hotel with our truck camper. It is a nice and quiet spot a little aside of the center. We booked the Isla de la Plata tour at the hotel, for 45 usd pp. They didn’t want us to stay in their parking lot, because of the size of our truckcamper. But they said that this is a very safe place to leave the vehicle. The next morning tour guide Tito picked us up at the time they promised us. We had to walk to the office together with Tito, afterwards continued to the pier (in total about 2 km). We were 16 tourists and 4 staff in 1 boat, the maximum. The boat is fast and safe, but very uncomfortable to sit during the one hour ride to the island. All touroperators in town are using the same kind of boats. Before going on the island, they provided a small piece of banana bread. They didn’t provide a lot of information on the island about the wildlife, on top, not everything was correct. The guide spoke very limited English, difficult to understand (not only for us, but also for the US and UK people of our group). During the hike (+/- 2,5 km), we mainly have seen a lot of Blue Footed Boobies, nests, eggs and young birds. After the hike, we returned to the boat for lunch. We’ve got 2 sandwiches and 1 cup of Coca Cola (the only drink they offered us, during the whole day! - so bring your own) and a piece of watermelon. At that moment, they showed us a small group of Green Sea Turtles, swimming around the boat. After lunch, we went to another spot, along the island coast, for snorkelling. The equipment was very poor, dirty and no fins. The snorkelling is worthless, only a few small coloured fish and some corals, hard to see because about 6 meters deep. Most people returned to the boat before the end of the 40 minutes we’ve got. On our way back, we received a slice of pineapple. At the end of the trip, they asked for a tip and put a cup on the floor in the middle of the boat. They‘ve got less then 3 dollars, to be shared with 4 people. This is a proof that the tour is very bad organised, tourists were not so happy. Staff is not motivated. We went back to the hotel where we could take a shower, because we’ve booked the tour with them. If you want to visit the island, it doesn’t matter which organisation you take, they are all the same. Maybe good to inform upfront about the content of your tour. They advertise also pictures of the Frigate Birds, but when we asked for them, Tito said they can be seen on another trail on the island, ‘you will not see the frigate birds today, that is life’. He told us another group was hiking that trail. Happy we visited the island, they call it the Galapagos for poor people. We call it the Galapagos of the poor organisation.

Good place a little bit outside of the city. Nice people in the hotel and it is still possible to book the tour for 45 dollars. The hotel let us park inside for the day of the tour and afterwards we could take a shower.
Only downside is that the public toilets and showers 200 meters from this place are not always open and the hotel didn‘t let us use their toilets all the time.

nice hotel.
we booked the isla plata here and we're allowed to park our van in their yard during the tour. afterwards we had to move it back onto the field next-door though. no problem.
used their bathrooms all the time and outdoor shower after the tour.

The parking lot adjacent to the Victor Hugo hotel. Nice, save town with a great vibe. We purchased the Isla plata tour through the hotel and they allowed us to use the toilet while we were here. 100% worth it!!
