Take the small path to the left, off the Panamerica. You will find a flat wild camping place. Amazing view. There's also the possibilty to make a campfire.

we didnt found that place. there is a police check point at this coordinates so we drove further and found another place. we will add this to iO under the name „near the road but quiet“

Up a short, steep section thru a human bathroom area and then took a path to a non grassy, flat area to pitch our tent. Beware that the short, steep section is tough if you are on a bicycle. The trail is on the left as you head south to Ipiales and just before the toll booth. The road noise wasn’t too bad…occasional truck and moto noise.

My wife and I stopped in here and tent camped while cycling through the area. The road area is flat but is used as a toilet by passing motorists. We found a hidden flat spot just below the driveway that worked better for us but is not accessible by car.

Indeed very nice, although it is very close to the Panamericana. Quiet at night. With a long vehicle difficult to turn in the road coming from Pasto. We turned around a few hundred meters further up. There's a lot of space.
