Latest Check-Ins

We did the whole package 1200p for the tour+ 2x90p entry + 2x135p for camping w/ shower + toilet + tricky wlan. Worth it- what a beautiful trip meanwhile we left our solar panels outside in safety
Fyi to clear it: the tours are starting at 7 o’clock (not only at) and continuing during the day whenever you want until 3 o’clock

Report Check-In

Price update for camping: 135pp, also for kids :-(
Not dedicated space for rigs.
Showers were ok but pool not clean.
Internet accessible only at the restaurant.
At the end, for us as a family, did not worth the money...

We took the boat trip from there, negociated at 1200p for 5 thanks to previous ioverlanders! (Official pricelist was 2000p) :-)

To clarify the options here: If you want to camp for free then approach the tour office and they will let you camp in the parking area near the river, and use the office toilet. If you want facilities, then approach the hotel reception (in the restaurant). They will charge you 115 pppn to camp in an area between the cabañas with access to toilets, showers and the swimming pool.
We opted to pay and have the facilities. Toilets are clean, flush, with toilet paper & soap but no seats. Showers were cold at 5pm but hot at 6pm - so maybe ask first if the boiler is on. Swimming pool is not the cleanest but clean enough for us and a great way to cool down as it is super hot here. Camping area is OK with dappled shade but quite a lot of ants.

Report Check-In

Stayed 2 nights. No more free, 115 pP/night. Got a boat for 1200 Pesos. At hotel they help you finding companions to share the costs if you want.

Report Check-In

We could stay for free at the parking lot when we said we would take the boat with them. We didn’t buy tickets and nobody questioned us being there. So I am pretty convinced that you could just camp there without problem for free.

Report Check-In

115p per person for camping in between the cabanas (so you’re not on the parking), including use of the pool and clean bathrooms. Very quiet at night. Wifi is very slow at restaurant.

Report Check-In

$250 for boondocking with pool and shower privs. Made a boat deal for two of us at the launch pavilion on site for $1000. Clean bathrooms w/warm shower. There is plenty of space for parking. Dead quiet so far except for occasional howler choruses. Good food.

Report Check-In

Uploaded the prices as a photo.
We were the only guests due to the pandemic. Paid 125MXN/person for camping and using their facilities. Quite pricy but the nicest option we could find. When we arrived the tour office was closed. Bought boat tickets separately.
Down at the river, unrelated to Jaguar:
Paid 1000MXN for the boat to Yaxchilan for 2 persons. They officially ask for 1200.

Report Check-In

In fact there are 2 different options here - if you ask the restaurant they will ask you to pay but you can have access to bathroom (& possibly wifi). If you ask at the boats office & take a boat here you can stay for free, with something they call bathrooms(ugly). It's the same parking lot & same name but different companies... we took the boat (1000 pesos for family, 5-seconds bargaining from displayed price of 1600) & did not pay to stay (and hot wifi code by having a few drinks at the restaurant). No cell signal, as everywhere in this area.

Report Check-In

Camping (tent) 105 pesos pp. Boat to Yaxchilan for 1-4 people for 1600 pesos, or more for larger groups up to 10 people in one boat. They were not willing to negotiate. They were "generous" enough to charge 1600 for 4 adults and 3 children. We paid it, but it may be possible to negotiate a better price with random boat men near the public dock.

Report Check-In

We were charged for camping in our van overnight between cabañas for 105pesos por persona. Child was free. The showers was hot and clean! Staff was very friendly. Asked and got electricity connected. Wifi was fast, even youtube videos was working in restaurant/reception area and it costed nothing extra. Restaurant was reasonably priced and good food, that i think is the best option in town. There's also swimming pool and restaurant. For boat we were asked 1600pesos. After i said that my friends paid 900, they easy dropped price. to that amount. Keep in mind that there's no ATM (Nearest one in Palenque). And no gas stations.Though People sell gasoline in cans on the streets.

Stayed here on night, did the tour the next day. Camping was not free for us, $200p pp, and the trip to the ruins was $1200p pp...good for one night, bathrooms with showers available.

very good restaurant. Free access to the swimming pool.

Report Check-In

We asked in the restaurant for camping with our two small campers. They told us we had to ask in the information office. There they told us overnight parking is no problem. It cost nothing. There are toiletts at the information,it closed at 7pm. Behind the information building is the next toilet. We ordered a boat for 4 persons for 1000 pesos.

Report Check-In

Camping area was a grassy spot between cabins for 115p pp. It had just been raining so the ground was very muddy. We decided to sleep in a cabin with three for only a little bit extra. Comfortable beds, mosquito and bug proof room, shared hot shower (a little dirty and run down).

Ruins were incredible- we paid 850p for three people for the boat trip. Some boats tried to charge us 1400p. Well worth the trip. Had 2 1/2 hours at the ruins and saw a toucan and lots of howler monkey’s!

Report Check-In

Restaurant for Escudo has WiFi if you eat there or order a beer or three. Camping fee $115. They give you a key for the shower and bathroom block. They said hot water but we couldnt feel it. Still not bad after a sweaty day climbing ruins. Boat ride 1-4 persons 1400. We were two and got a discount to 1200 so we paid the other 200 to the boatman as a tip. Boat ride 30 minutes, ruin takes about 3 hours if you're not slowed by a guide with all the explanations. Signs are in English anyway.

Report Check-In

Nice place to stay before going up the river to see the ruins. Camping is nothing special, but close to the boats in the morning. We were 4 Overlanders and we were able to negotiate 1000 MP for all four of us up to the ruins. Make sure to also purchase your ticket to the ruins across the street from the hotel.
We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel restaurant and were not asked to pay for camping. The ride up the river was cool in the morning, so you might want to take a jacket. These ruins are not to be missed.

Report Check-In

Park-up near the restaurant and the WiFi will probably reach to your camper. Food in the restaurant is average. Camping is listed on the price list in reception as 115 pesos per night. They asked us to pay the first night but didn't ask again for the second night (maybe because we ate in the restaurant). Boat price to Yaxchilan for up to 4 people is listed as 1,400 pesos. They dropped to 1000 very quickly, they would probably have dropped further if we had negotiated harder.

Report Check-In

Was camping there but went to the ruins with another company. No shower and just very hot water out of a tank... lot's of dogs pissing around. Wouldn't recommend it when sleeping in tent. Besides this it's a safe place. Used the pool. We payed 850 for 3 persons - entrance excluded.

Report Check-In

This is the best place to stay to see the ruins. The ruins and the boat ride are wonderful! After touring the ruins, you can stay in the parking area for free. Ask the lady at the reception and they will leave the bathrooms open for you.
We took a swim in the pool after ruins and it was super refreshing. The resturant looks decent. We did not eat.

Report Check-In

Went here and shared the boat with another overlander. She already got the price down and agreed to 900 - after telling them that lancheros got her that price, which was true. We went and told them we'll join her, there were some looks but OK. Parking with overnight free, nice view on the river, howler monkeys in the evening directly above us in the trees were a nice spectacle.
The next morning, our overlander friend went to confirm that we'll be leaving and to pay (we didn't pay before in case more people wanted to join) - and they told her for three people it's 1500 - but she very quickly told them we had a deal yesterday for 900. They said we'll do it for 1000, so she told them fine, if you don't honor your deal I am going to lancheros directly and also told them, that this is 2018 and travellers talk to each other and know the prices. A few seconds later, they stopped her and the deal for 900 was back... So they are trying a bit, just stand your ground - 900 is a good price for chiapas and 1:45 boat ride, nothing too cheap here.
The ruins themselves were amazing, definitely one of my highlights of Mexico and probably my favourite ruins, mostly of the pure jungle remote setting (more jungle-y feeling than Palenque). Our other overlander friends that did the whole panam said the exactly same thing.
Worth the detour and the slight hassle with the agencies, definitely. It's been great.

We checked the Lancha price at Nuevo Allianza first. Their official price for 5-7 persons (we are a family of 5) is 2000 M$!! The best price they could give us was still very high-1600 M$. And they wanted us to pay 150 for staying overnight at the parking lot.
We checked the price for the lancha directly at the embarcadero. A Lanchero offered the trip for 1000 M$. He told us it would be safe to sleep on the big public parking lot at the embarcadero. Free. We checked Escudo Jaguar as well. Their official price for 5-7 is 1700 M$ but when I told them of the 1000 offer they immidiately offered the same price. Also they let us stay overnight for free at a grassy area behind a building seperating us from their main parking. Could use toilet at the restaurant. Conclusion: right now Escudo is the best offer if you dont go directly to the lancheros.

Report Check-In

No Wifi. No showers.
Free camping for as many days as you like if you book a tour. Public tour price is 1300 for 1-4 persons. You can get it for 1000 without negotiating (and have the 65 pp entry to the ruins included), so they can probably do it for less than 800.

Report Check-In

we went to Nueva Allianza first but they wanted $200 a night plus $50 per day for wifi, to park in their unshaded parking lot. We decided to check out Escudo Jaguar and are glad we did! They wanted $150 a night including water and electric, and we paid $100 a night without either. The internet was $20 a day although it was sometimes good and sometimes patchy. they have an internet connection system that requires the ip address of your device (they can show you how to find it). They sell gaffons of water, and ice. there's telcel but no 3g. and shade! clean bathrooms and hot water. swimming pool. restaurant, although we didn't eat there. helpful and friendly staff.

Free Camping if you take a tour to the ruins the next Day. Entry fee MXN 60/person. Tour cost 950 for 4 persons. No wifi. Security guard at night. Trip to Ruins well worth it but do. it in the mornings.
