Please be respectful and keep this location clean and open!

From this location south there are a couple miles of roadside pullouts without any signage.

Stayed a night here, wasn’t bothered.

The cliff side view is incredible.

Report Check-In

**pack out your toilet paper**

second stop here. one mile south of the hwy 1 road closure. no road noise overnight, but the cars that come through starting at ~6 am seen extremely loud in contrast.

still lots of toilet paper around. please, please pack it out.

Report Check-In

Stayed here for 1 night nestled under the trees. Fantastic views and zero road noise as road to Big Sur still closed

Report Check-In

epic view and accurate previous reviews. got there late afternoon in a pop up camper, joined by a van and jeep later. had a few different cops pull in while I was popped up (before dark and at sunset) but none got out of their cars. one middle of the night honker but otherwise super limited traffic. slept great.

Report Check-In

lovely place to park for Thanksgiving! one RV there. PLEASE pack out your toilet paper or bury it.

Report Check-In

As others have said, it's a great spot! I stayed on a Friday, got here just after sunset, and within an hour, the spot was full. Make sure to come early (at least on the weekends)! It fit 4 RVs and 4 cars. Several more pulled over, but had to leave.

Report Check-In

Great spot, fit 5-6 car/vans at night parking perpendicular to the road. Peaceful and quiet at night, no regulations. A blessing to find, a few miles north of here oncd you hit Monterey County there's a sign explicitly stating no camping in the county, so this is your last chance before then.

Report Check-In

Stayed here for one night. Arrived around 7pm and left around 9am. It was quiet from about 9pm-9am. There was one ~30ft Class A and a Westfalia in addition to our 24ft Class C. Space for 1-2 more campers. Great spot!

Report Check-In

Great spot as everyone has described.
But my RV was invaded... by a mouse.
I was thoroughly exploring all beaches and (poison oak free) trails from San Simeon to Lucia over 5 days and stayed on this shoulder 4 nights. First night I parked on northern end of shoulder. After dark I hear him behind fridge and bottom cabinets or maybe outside under chassis... I couldn't figure it out, couldn't find him. Went to bed. Next day my bag of almond, which I keep on the floor next to driver's seat, chewed through and mostly empty. I tracked him, through scat, under dash by gas and break pedals. Yup, I had a mouse. Purchased traps in Cambria and put them out when I parked on shoulder next two nights, but on south side of shoulder. No mouse noise nor trap sprung nor food eaten nor mouse sign. Night four, parked on north side again. After dark, lights off, reading from Kindle, I heard him come up by pedals. I quietly grabbed a light and turned it on yelling. I saw him shoot away from where he'd come behind gas pedal. He knew what he was doing and laying in ambush for any who park there.

Report Check-In

AMAZING spot right of the 1, and one of the last pullouts before overnight parking is illegal as you head north. We slept 5 vans one night, leaving early in the morning. It’s a popular spot for people to come and take pictures as well.

Report Check-In

Amazing spot with epic views. Space for 4 to 5 several rigs. Quiet night.

Report Check-In

Great spot with beautiful views! Plenty of room for a larger rv, but we were in our sprinter & there were 2 minivans there last night and we had space for 2 more smaller vehicles. No issues with being on Hwy 1. Once the sunset it was nice and quiet.

Report Check-In

Very nice spot, leveled. Gets calm around 9pm, till 8am. Just try to park back side, not parallel to the road, so the cars can still have space to stop to see the view. We had a very calm night, the sunset is amazing! No sign "no camping".

Report Check-In

Nice quiet spot off the 1. Very rare you find spots around here so this is a place we want to keep clean and noise to a minimum. Cars drive by but traffic seems to be sparse after 10pm. Great view!!

Report Check-In

Great spot for a night. Free and safe. We pulled in around 6 to watch the sunset (a must) and left around 11am the next morning after enjoying the views. No one bothered us at all. Had 2 other campers pull in after dark.

Report Check-In

Fabulous spot to sleep! We easily parked our 22’ long Sprinter van with room for at least 3 other vehicles. Spent the evening enjoying the incredible view and sunset. My daughter even put up her hammock. No one bothered us. Woke up to one other car parked. Traffic became very sparse after dark. Highly recommend!

Report Check-In

Worked great for us. Got a bit crowded on a Saturday night. Also, some butthole drove by around 1:30am and laid on his horn, it was like a train so must’ve been some big truck. Scared us to death. Maybe the locals don’t like people sleeping here. No problems otherwise.

Report Check-In

Great spot to stay, amazing views. Friendly reminder to go away from the main areas and off trails to use the bathroom. And if anyone hasn’t taught you yet, *take your used TP with you*. Placing it in a zip lock bag works perfect (it can take up to 5 weeks to degrade!) Lets keep these areas clean and better than how we found it.

Report Check-In

Perfect spot, no "no overnight" sign. We arrived at 10pm and luckily there was a spot for us. We came from the North, stopped at several pull outs for photos and dinner and saw several signs saying "no overnight". 5 vans and another RV were parked here. Perfect sound of waves all night long. Enjoy! Please keep the place clean.

Report Check-In

We stayed here on the way up to Oregon and again south bound. This time there were at least 6 vehicles including 2 30+ RVs. 😲 Very popular spot. We arrived around 8pm and there were only 2 other vehicles there. No amenities. Great spot for one night. If going south bound, you’re only 10 miles from the Elephant Seals!!

Thankful for this app. Why I didn’t discover/use it before is beyond me as we’ve been road tripping in the US forever! 😬

Report Check-In

Correction to my last post period Not meno but Monterey County

Report Check-In

as advertised beautiful in the Fall also great sunsets we have another class B van who's sharing the space with us tonight and it was the perfect spot before Mendocino where they restrict camping on Highway 1

Report Check-In

Great spot, dry camping only, no one bothered us, I loved the view, and it was easy parking. It's a good choice when going north on 1 because about 2 miles up the road there is a sign that says no camping on 1 for the next 72 miles, essentially all of Monterey county.

Report Check-In

Beautiful view, but a well known and well used spot (it was a weekend, though). Lots of folks taking photos of the sunset, and shared the spot for the night with 5 other vehicles. No one bothered us, despite being right off the road.

Report Check-In

This place is amazing to stop for the night. I was the only car there and it was pretty quiet at night. The view of the sunset was beautiful.

Report Check-In

Very quiet. Not disturbed all night. Amazing views. Dolphins were incredible.

Report Check-In

We slept here last night with at some others van and class c motorhome. There is space for 5 or 6 Rv. Very quiet at night and seem to be legal. We arrived at 8 pm and left by 8 am. Good spot.

Report Check-In

Wonderful place! It's just a pullout but it's larger than most, enough for a few vehicles but we had the whole place to ourselves. It looks like this is USFS land so maybe that's why there are no restrictions. Very little trash here, picked up some stray garbage but there wasn't much. Zero Verizon signal, t-mobile was on roaming, and ATT had good signal. Quiet place and beautiful view of ocean. Minimal road noise at night and nobody bothered us. Relatively flat.

Report Check-In

Wow! This was a treasure. A bit noisy at night since there is a hotel resort just up the road. Loved our morning view and enjoyed the short walk up to the hotel for breakfast in the morning. There's coastal access that's somewhat treacherous, otherwise gorgeous views if you choose not to descend down to the water.

Report Check-In

Great spot to spend the night! Would highly suggest it. Plenty of room, and close to some nice beaches. Little traffic once it gets dark, so its pretty quiet.
No service, but great to unplug.

Report Check-In

One of our fav spots along Highway 1. Woke up to beautiful sunrise with birds singing and ocean sounds. 5 others vehicles with us, which felt reassuring because everyone talks about how strict they are near Big Sur. This seems to be far enough south that nobody bothers you.

Report Check-In

It was a great spot, just outside of Monterey county and it’s a huge turn out. We woke up to beautiful view and enjoyed netting another two couples stayed overnight. It was safe, quiet, but be careful of poops near trees and grass area. no cellphone reception

Report Check-In

Stayed here for a night. Quiet location and nobody bothered us. We built a small campfire in a portable firepit to not leave anything behind. There was toiletpaper all over the place as well as garbage. We cleaned it all up. I recommend this to all ioverlanders it takes 10 minutes and this way we keep all sites clean.

Report Check-In

We came here to sleep after “Big Sur Pull Off” was no good, a cop came and told us to leave as it is illegal to sleep in Monterey county. We left and toyed with the idea of a few other spots but this one was a blessing! So peaceful, private and safe. No service but we didn’t mind. We had a lovely night.m and morning.

Report Check-In

Still free, but full of toilet paper. If you don't have a toilet then use a campground.
Stop throwing your waste into the world.
Nice place for a night, but the human waste is annoying. I cleaned up after our dogs.

Report Check-In

yeah! still open, no "No" signs.
stayed 1 night with a van; with us one other car. No one bothered us.
No trash, not even toilet paper; keep it that way.
No cell service or beach access tho.
Perfect for one night between here and there (:

Report Check-In

Very good place to sleep during the Highway 1 trip. Beautiful view, place for at least 6-7 RV's. And it's for free. With us only one van stayed in the lot. Nobody bothered us, the traffic on the road stops when it's dark. Of course no water or toilets. We highly reccomend this place!

Report Check-In

Still open and beautiful. Stayed 34' RV. one other van spent night also.

Report Check-In

We stayed one night at this location and enjoyed the sunset framed by pine trees. After 10pm it was very quiet and no cars went by. It was silent all night. In the morning, people started arriving after 830. This location is safe and we had a great sleep!

Report Check-In

Endroit calme avec vue sur la mer. Aucune interdictions. Proche de la route mais peu de circulation.

Report Check-In

pull off and start dreaming! we stayed one night there. it's located just between the road and the cliff. very quite. the only noise is the one of the waves crashing on the rocks. by night you Can observe the milky way. in the morning you sip at your coffee facing the ocean. highly recommended. (usually you Can not camp anywhere by the H1, but here there is no signalisation saying you Can not : sneak in!)

Report Check-In

Simple and very wide turn out along the side of the highway. Nothing posted and just outside Los Padres NF and Monterey County which has signs prohibiting overnight parking and camping.

We spent one night, getting in mid-evening. Had a quiet night with very little traffic until morning when traffic really picked up.

Great, quick, quiet and free spot which is rare here.

Report Check-In

Overnight parking at a pullout along Hwy No. 1 just south of Rugged Point. Nice ocean view, the Hwy is noisy during daytime, ok during night.

Report Check-In

We spent their one quiet night. Awesome view, just one other Van.

Report Check-In

Stayed here one quiet night without problems. Look out for dolphins!

Report Check-In

what a wonderful view. we arrived just before sunset. 2-3 cars frequently stopped to take photos. after the sun dropped in the ocean it was quite quiet. there is space for 3 RVs. We had a 32ft long rig and it fitted well. no water. no nothing. just a great ocean view.

Report Check-In

First night was fine.
Second night, a ranger came at 10pm. A "friendly neighbor" had called him saying we'de been here for days!
He told us it was ok for this second night but that we would get a ticket if we stayed a third night.

Report Check-In

It is a Great and in the night Very quiet location! Great views. Maybe the nicest spot near the coast. We had a fantastic night!

Report Check-In

Due to rock slides the road is closed since 24. January 2017 for some weeks behind Ragged Point. At Ragged Point they want 40(!) $ for overnight parking..... This pullout is for free, has a wonderfull view and space for 4-5 camper.
