Description

Straightforward and quick border crossing in our experience. We obtained visa's for Mali when we were in Dakar so the Senegal Police stamped our passports out and then Mali Police stamped us in. No fixers and no money. We have 2 motorcycles but there was no import. We couldn't find any hotels and there was minimal facilities on both sides like food and drinks. Fairly good road but some sections with roadwork and potholes.

Quick and easy. Senegal to Mali. On both sides no problem. Stamped out on Senegal first, than you can pass the gate. Douane on the left side next to the trees stamped the CDP.

Than passing the bridge, immigration on the left side. Very friendly officers, our dog has to shacks hand with them.

Than next building for the douane, saying hello and that was it.

They stamped the CDP a few kilometres later in a building on the left side.

As described. The 15,000 for passavant was also quoted to me. I saw no other information about the price. Two receipts were given and diligently duplicated into a receipt book and stamped. One for 5,000 and the other for 10,000. One makes LPT and the other TS. Not speaking French and being alone I wasn’t in the mood to argue. In jest a sign of asking for money was made at the end but it was a joke, basically, and I declined. Pleasant people otherwise.

We cross this border Senegal towards Mali in about one hour. No problems and no money what the people ask for.

Easy process. 3 USA passports and 3 motorbikes. Maybe 1 hour total. Senegal do immigration first then customs. Mali immigration asked for a gift after stamping us in, but just keep smiling and no problem.

Customs is maybe 5km ahead on the left (entering from Senegal). They wanted 15,000cfa each for the passavant. It should be 5000. But they said it was the weekend so the price was triple. I tried for about 5 minutes and the we just left. That’s 30,000 extra (3 people). We will deal with it when we leave, plan to just skip customs on the way to Burkina playing dumb no pas francais

Note there is a customs checkpoint on the east of Kita, but we waited for a bus to come when they were busy and just rode through.

Easy border!

There’s a peage for the first 3-4km of the Malian side.

Malian side closes at 1 am. (Middle of the night)
Senegal side is open 24h.

In the Malian side, in Kéniéba, there’s a hotel. But there isn’t in the Senegales side (except a prostitute bar/hotel).
