Something not right?

Description

Beware the road coming in. it was quite bumpy with large washout puddles. The site is primarily a cabana, but they do have Tent and truck camping available on site as well although not very much or not very big spaces (can maybe accommodate 5 small rigs or 3 big ones. The camp is just east and a bit north of Tulum. They have access to the beach (which is beautiful and has white sand for miles). They have small toilets and showers available a well as a restaurant. The cabanas were being rebuilt when we were there, but looked like they would be very nice once complete.

Report Check-In

Tulum Playa Pescadores.
Half mile from the archeological site. Power cut off at 21.00 (generator). 100 pesos. Sandy ground.

Report Check-In

A cabana, tent and truck camping lot just north of Tulum. Has access to the beach. Primitive but beautiful. Great spots for tent campers nearer the beach. Breezes kept us cool all night long. Beach is white sand and probably one of the most beautiful we have seen in all of Mexico. Cost was 150 pesos per night.

Report Check-In

- 100 per person
- vehicles are parked about 200 m from the beach (we could not find any beach camping in Tulum)
- cold showers and flushing toilet
- noisy generator by the entrance of the camping, it is switched off for the night
- unlocked wifi from the restaurant, but is not on all the time (probably only when the generator is running)
- the police doesn't like people boondocking by the beach, we have been warned not to stay there and they even came later to check, otherwise it would be an option to park by the access road to the beach (you'd still have wifi there if you need it).
- might be a tight squeeze for larger vehicles, some spots have overhanging palm trees (but at least one spot fits a huge MAN truck)
- There is supposed to be free camping in the Punta Allen reserve further south, but all we found there were paid campsites, one of them locked and the other did not allow for beach parking. Plus the road is REALLY bad - deep holes swinging the van left and right, high clearance and lot of patience recommended. We drove only about 3 kms in from the gate (entrance 27 pesos per person), maybe if we continued further, we would get somewhere, but we felt it wasn't worth it. In the first 3 kms there was no beach access, everything private property. The campspot listed by Paws on Tour here is now a paid campsite (200 pesos).
