Road ends in a deep sandy riverbed.
You can only pass with a 4WD
So we have to stay here overnight.

EDIT- This Road is fine. If numerous tour buses can pass I don’t see how this was ever only 4WD.

We almost didn’t go of this warning. Thankgod we tried in our 2WD. This road is completely fine.

Coming from lagoon Chaxa there is a road blockage just before heading back to highway 23 to prevent the sandy riverbed. The very good gravel road meets the main road 300 meters further towards San Pedro de Atacama.

Just to be clear, this comment refers to the track east-west coming from Laguna Chaxa. the road heading south is fine. (Also works are currently underway on the other track so probably will be improved shortly).
