Beautiful place with a parilla under some willows. There's a fresh water tap and the locals where very friendly. We had a dinner at a place nearby. It was good, but not that cheap. 1500ARG (~4€ that time) for Milanesa + rice. However, one has to remember, that the ingredients have to be transported to that place first.

Not stayed at this place (shady, level spot, right in town, next to the bbq's), but there is a tap where you can fill up.

If you're heading north towards Piedras Pomez, the drive is quite beautiful. High clearance is mandatory, 4x4 highly recommended as there are some soft patches of sand. Depending on the conditions, time of the year and vehicle/skill of driver, it could be possible without a 4x4.

If you're heading south towards Fiambalá, you are driving in a dry river bed. Judging from the other comments, the conditions seem to differ a lot. Another overlander who recommended this track to us said it took him two days in a Defender because the riverbed was so incredibly rough. When we drove it, it seemed like it had just been maintained (30.10.2018) and it took us less than 3 hours to get to Fiambalá from this point. It was one of the most beautiful/easy off-road driving, that we had done in South America so far with lots of knee deep river crossings that should not pose any problems to a regular 4x4. If you should be there anytime soon and given the conditions don't change, we can highly recommend this track.
NOTE: Check the conditions before you attempt this track, especially if it is raining. It was clearly visible that this river can carry a lot more water and then it would be an absolute nightmare to drive.

This is real Offroad. We drive from Fiambala to north. It is an amazing trip. We have so much fun with the Unimog. The best road what we drive in south america.

Report Check-In

Most of the road to Las Papas has been washed away. Only experienced 4x4 drivers should attempt the trip. Often times you must drive through the river and rough gravel. We have a Defender with 4" kit and needed about 6h for 30km. If you like to test your vehicle and driving skills, this is the "road" to do it.
